Elf Acne Fighting Foundation Review

I hope everyone had a great weekend and enjoyed all the Super Bowl parties, but now it’s time to get back to work for a day before we celebrate Mardi Gras tomorrow!! I’ve mentioned once or twice before that I’m not normally a very big fan of foundation and usually just only wear concealer or bb cream instead. However, in the cooler months is when I like to do my experimenting because it doesn’t feel as heavy on my skin as it does when it’s hot and humid outside. I love makeup products that claim to have better ingredients and do good things for my skin, so in my Elf Haul I decided to try the Acne Fighting Foundation.

I picked it up in the shade Buff. It’s a little too dark for me right now and does oxidize during the day, so I haven’t been wearing it as much as when I first got it. The package comes with 1.21 oz. of product, which is just a little bit more than average. This foundation retails on the Elf Cosmetics website for $6 and you can also find it at various other drugstores such as Walmart or Target. It contains salicylic acid (0.5%), witch hazel, tea tree and aloe as beneficial ingredients for the skin.

As far as packaging, I actually appreciate that it doesn’t have a pump and is in a nice squeeze tube. I found that to make it very user-friendly. Sometimes acne fighting makeup products can make the skin feel tight and there can be a tingly feeling from those ingredients. Thankfully, I didn’t notice any of those things with this foundation. I was also worried that it was going to feel heavy, but it actually doesn’t. It gives very full coverage and looks natural on the skin. It didn’t sink into any of my pores and didn’t look cakey at all. It’s not a completely matte finish, it just looks like...skin.
Aside from its acne fighting properties, my favorite thing about this foundation is that it gives completely full coverage while still looking like natural skin and without feeling heavy. Although I keep mentioning it’s ingredients and that it claims to help prevent acne, I can’t actually say that I think it does that. But when wearing makeup for eight or more hours in the day, I think it’s a better option. There is no spf in this foundation and it is very long wearing. I’ve worn it around eight hours and didn’t notice any separation or fading, even in my problem areas. I’m really impressed with this foundation and definitely recommend trying it out the next chance you get! I usually apply it over a primer and with the Elf Blending Brush, which I have also been loving!

For the past two weeks, I have been wanting a more bright color but have changed my mind last minute both times when I actually went to go paint my nails. This week I controlled myself and didn’t even look at the other polishes. I’ve worn Sinful Colors Energetic Red before and really love it. You can definitely get away with one coat if you wanted. It’s a beautiful creamy red with just the right amount of orange tint.

What’s on your nails this week?
