February Boxycharm Unboxing

My Boxycharm’s here!!! I was actually really surprised with their shipping this month. Usually I complain because it’s late and then takes forever after it ships, but this month it shipped exactly in the middle of the month and even arrived two days early! Bonus points for that! As a short background if you’re unfamiliar with Boxycharm, it’s a $21 beauty subscription service that delivers 4-5 full size products to you every month. There are many beauty subscription services out there, but this one is by far my favorite and the biggest bang for your buck. If you’d like to sign up or find out more, you can visit their website here. As always, I’ll start with short reviews of last month’s products before getting into this month’s box.

~Royal & Langnickel Brush Set [R]evolution~ The brushes were nice, but there was nothing special about them and I didn’t find myself reaching for them over brushes that I already have in my collection. The brushes they included in the set just weren’t very exciting for me.

~blinc Amplified Mascara~ As I mentioned in the Unboxing post, I’m still working my way through six other mascaras right now (don’t judge!) and didn’t want to add to that. But when I do try this product, I will let you know!

~Starlooks Luxe Longwear Eye Liner Pen~ I know this is horrible, but this is another product that I didn’t get around to using either. I aimed for more natural looks and didn’t reach for the intensity of a black eye liner pen. Again, updates will come when I do use it so no need to worry! ;)

~Coastal Scents Smoky Revealed Palette~ I am still working with this palette to get a more detailed opinion to do a full review, but as a short summary for now it’s generally like the other Coastal Scents palette I’ve reviewed. Nice colors, but very hit or miss on the quality and texture.

Last month’s box was a little disappointing because it was the lowest value of a box I’ve gotten so far, there were only four products, and the products that were included didn’t really impress me very much. The theme for February is Rush to Relax and I have higher hopes for this month’s box, so let’s take a look:
Boxycharm.jpg
The first thing sitting on top was this Shray Ms. Amazing Facial Mask that had the cutest outer packaging. It’s a sheet mask and I’m not a very big fan of those at all, but we’ll see how it goes. I wish they would’ve included at least two, because how am I gonna know if I really like it just by one use? Either way, this individual mask retails for $12. It claims to hydrate the skin and doesn’t need to be washed off because the hydrant is supposed to set as a lotion/primer.

Right underneath the mask was a refill pan of Ofra’s Banana Powder ($12). I am super excited about this because I like using this shade of powder under my eyes to cancel out the purple in my dark circles. The texture of this is amazing and it can also be used as a light matte eyeshadow. The size of it is a little weird for being a face powder, but that’s a minor detail if it really works. What I noticed right away is that talc is nowhere in the ingredients list and that makes me so happy!!
This next product made me laugh when I saw the packaging and that they included it in a box. Where I’m from, camo is normal and worn by almost half of the population on any given day, but I can just imagine others’ reaction who might not see camo on a daily basis and what they thought pulling this out of the box. This is the Realtree for Her travel sprayer ($12.99 for .3 fl oz). The notecard says it has pomegranate, persimmon, and orchid scents. I usually get nervous when I see fragrance included in a subscription box like this because I’m so picky, but I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious this smells! I’m very impressed and love that it has a sprayer rather than a roller ball.

Next is this Beauty for Real Blush and Glow Stick ($24). One side has a dark coral cream blush and the other side has a little bit lighter pink-toned cream highlighter. I’m not really interested in cream products like this, but it says it’s actually a cream to powder finish and that caught my attention. The blush has some shimmer to it, I’m sure my oily cheeks are just going to love that. And I’d prefer the highlighter to be brighter, but maybe it’ll be different when I actually apply it to the face. I laughed when I read that it claims to have anti-aging benefits because I’m not sure how that's supposed to work in a blush or a highlighter and it didn’t go into any detail of those “benefits” on the notecard or the packaging. So I guess I just have to take their word and look for some magic?

Once again, I laughed at this product too. Not because it’s an eye serum--I’m actually super excited about that. But it was the price! This sample size of the Freeze 24/7 Anti-Aging Eye Serum comes with .23 fl oz of product and retails for $58! The full size of this (.5 fl oz) sells for $115. Let’s just let that sink in for a second...What??? Maybe I need to look for some magic in this product too. I’m really happy they included this in the box because these are the kind of deals I’m used to expecting from Boxycharm and I have been on the hunt forever to find a good eye serum. I’m creating extremely high standards for what I want to see from this product just based on its price.

Look how cute!! This is the Spongellé You Have my Heart on a String sponge ($15). It’s infused with body wash to buff, polish, cleanse, and tone the skin. It says it can be used up to 14 times and has a good amount of weight to it for being a sponge. My first thought is that it’s a bacteria trap. That’s usually what I think when I look at any type of bath sponge or loofah and exactly why I don’t use them. However, I will try this one out because it has my interest. I don’t see me getting 14 uses out of it, but I’m curious to know how well it works.
The total value of everything in this box is $134! It’s numbers like those that get me so excited about Boxycharm and the things they do. And did anybody even notice that there were six products in this month’s box?? Some of the products were on the smaller side, but six products is still exciting. The chuckles I got when opening this box were appreciated and I’m anxious to start trying all of these products. Let me know your thoughts of this box in the comments, I’d love to hear your reactions!

~Mani Monday~
I went for something sparkly this week and chose the Sinful Colors polish in Supernova. As soon as I saw this color in the store, I didn’t think twice about tossing it in the buggie. I love anything rose gold!! Thankfully this is a shimmer polish that has a smooth texture and we already know that I think the Sinful Colors formula is one of the best there is. I use this color a lot as an accent, but also love the way it looks on all of my nails.

What’s on your nails this week?
