Treat Lip Balm Review

These Treat Lip Balms have been highly recommended in the beauty community lately, especially by the beautiful Kandee Johnson. She’s raved about them so many times, that’s honestly what drove me to purchasing one myself. I have that excuse for probably half of the things in my collection. Maybe that’ll be my tag post for next month, Youtube Made Me Buy It! These lip balms are huge and made of all natural ingredients. And since I’m in the mindset that you can never have too many lip balms, this one didn’t take much convincing. Unfortunately, I wasn’t completely impressed.

I bought mine off of Amazon for $10 and it comes with .50 oz of product, which is three times the size of a typical .15 oz Chapstick tube. I had originally wanted the Marshmallow Cream version, but since they were sold out at the time I ended up with the Coconut Cream. It does have a coconut taste to it if you lick your lips and it smells like a piña colada with extra coconut. It’s USDA organic certified and only made with five ingredients: coconut oil, shea butter, beeswax, flavors, and vitamin E. I love beauty products with limited ingredients and this seemed like the perfect item.

I really wanted this to be a multipurpose item that I can easily use right before bed on those nights where I’m just too tired to layer on all my different creams and balms. I did use it to hydrate my under eye area and actually really liked it for that purpose. However, my problems came when I tried it as an overnight lip treatment. It’s not sticky, tacky, or heavy at all so it felt fine when I first put it on. But when I woke up in the morning, my lips were parched. This happened to me for a complete seven days as I kept trying to give it another chance. Eventually, I just had enough and went back to my favorite Smith's Rosebud Salve which brought my lips back to life after the first night.

In the picture above, you can see the size comparison to a typical size lip balm. It’s much larger, which of course is going to make it that much more fun to use because it’s different. The size really did help when applying it underneath my eyes. The way that I’ve been using this lip balm now is for hydration under lipstick. It’s fine for that use because I typically don’t have it on for that long. So while it’s not a completely horrible product, I also wouldn’t recommend purchasing it. There’s no SPF, so it won’t be able to help you in the summer months that are coming up and there’s other products that perform better. Let me know your experience if you’ve ever tried this lip balm before and I hope you have a fabulous weekend! :)
