Meet Matt(e) Trimony Palette Review
I think it’s pretty understood at this point that I am a total drugstore girl and love the challenge of trying to find the absolute best products at the most affordable price. However, that doesn’t mean that I don’t completely adore and admire high-end products from afar. It’s just that I have more passion to find affordable products that are just as good without paying the ridiculous high-end price tags. So I’m always watching and waiting for sales to get those more expensive products at a price that they should be. I’ve always wanted to try one of the Meet Matt(e) products from The Balm, so when I saw it on a flash sale a few months ago I jumped right on it. A palette completely full of matte eyeshadows is a dream come true!
This palette includes nine different eyeshadows totaling up to 0.756 oz of product and retails for $42 on The Balm’s website. I think they included a good amount of shadow in each pan. I like that the pans are big, so it’s easy to dip the brush in and quickly pick up the color you need. It stays close with a magnetic pull. The packaging feels sturdy and is made from a type of cardboard. It does have a mirror that’s a fairly good size, but doesn’t come with any application tools.
Unlike many other palettes they have come out with in the past and most matte palettes that are currently on the market, this one offers a variety of different shades with both warm and cool undertones. There’s a few shades to highlight and blend with, transition shades, crease and outer corner shades, and eyeliner shades. This palette seems to have it all. The one thing it’s missing for me is a really bright shade to put on the inner half of my lid. Other than that, it has everything I need to create an entire eyelook.
I’ve only ever worked with one sample size shadow from The Balm before and was excited to see how the quality would be, especially since these are all mattes and companies always seem to struggle with those the most. These aren’t necessarily the smoothest eyeshadows I have ever touched, but they are nicely pigmented and easy to work with. Plus, the packaging and shade names are so entertaining. In the swatch picture below, the shades are: Matt Lin, Matt Thomas, Matt Rossi, Matt Lopez, Matt Kumar, Matt Moskowitz, Matt Evans, Matt Reed, and Matt Ahmed.
I’m really impressed by the quality of these shadows, how easy they are to work with, the shade range that they chose to include, and how long they last throughout the day. With a primer, I usually make it to the seven hour mark before I start to notice any fading. If you’re a matte eyeshadow lover, I would definitely recommend this palette because it has so many different options on the type of look you can create.
