Mario Badescu Drying Lotion Review

Mario Badescu is one of the few companies, if not the only company, that I can actually read and pronounce every single ingredient listed on the back. If that’s not reason enough to look more into this brand, then I don’t know what is. I mentioned their Drying Cream in my Acne Survival Kit and in my Skincare Routine blog posts. I did enjoy that cream while I had it, but it started drying up the longer I had the product opened. Instead of repurchasing that product, I decided to try their Drying Lotion instead. I’ve always heard amazing things about it and I needed to see what it was all about.

I purchased this at Ulta for $17. It comes with 1 fl. oz of product and I did remember hearing specific recommendations about the glass bottle, so I made sure to get that instead of the plastic one. This is a spot treatment product for acne that includes salicylic acid and calamine to quickly and effectively shrink whiteheads. It is safe for all skin types and you want to make sure that the product doesn’t mix together.

I’ve been using this for the past few weeks now and have been applying it the very second I start to see a pimple trying to make it’s way in. All I do is just dip a q-tip into the product at the bottom, pull it straight out, let any excess liquid drip off, and then dot it wherever needed. It does dry quickly and then I let it sit overnight. It’s not the cutest thing, but that’s what home is for - comfy, usually unattractive oversized clothes, and pimple cream. Right?!

As I mentioned before, the ingredients list is very simple: isopropyl alcohol, water, calamine, camphor, sulfur, zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, talc, glycerin, and salicylic acid. Only 10 ingredients, and the first one wasn’t even water! That’s something I don’t appreciate about a lot of companies is when they claim to be all these good things for you, but then have an ingredients list that is ten miles long with the first ingredient being water. Ahh hmm, Burt’s Bees!

I’ll admit, when I saw that talc was in the ingredients list I was a little worried. But at that point, I had already brought it home and after hearing so many great reviews I figured it has to be good. I also rolled my eyes a little when I saw it claimed to shrink whiteheads overnight, but I came to find out that it’s not a joke. It really does heal pimples overnight, especially when applied before they really get to form. I’ve never had an acne spot treatment work as quickly as this does and I’m so grateful for it!

If you have any other questions about this product, please leave them for me in the comments section below. Also, let me know what your favorite acne product is. I’m always looking for the best!
