St. Patty's Day Krispie Treats

St. Patty’s Day is this week! I already shared a fun tutorial on how to incorporate green eyeshadow using one of the best drugstore palettes. And today I’ve got you covered on one of the most delicious and easiest treats ever. Who doesn’t like rice krispie treats?! And what sounds better than switching out the rice krispies for Lucky Charms and putting marshmallows on top of marshmallows? Yes please!!

You’ll only need 3 ingredients for this recipe:

~One 11.5 oz box of Lucky Charms
~One 10.5 oz bag of mini marshmallows
~1 stick of butter (½ cup)

In a large pot, melt the stick of butter over low heat. You can stir this somewhat frequently to make sure it doesn’t burn or simmer. Once the butter’s melted, add in the entire bag of mini marshmallows and let those melt over low heat. Stir these frequently too because although the butter is in there, it can still stick to the bottom and sides of the pot. You could also use large marshmallows, but keep in mind that the mini ones will melt faster.

After it begins to smell delicious from the melted marshmallows and it’s nice and fluffy, remove it from the heat immediately and add in the entire box of Lucky Charms. Stir the cereal and the marshmallows together in the pot until it’s all mixed together and coated in yummy melted marshmallow. Then, pour it all into a 9 x 13 pan and spread it out. A trick that will save you all kinds of mess and time is to spray the back of a spoon with cooking spray. That will help the spoon to glide over the top of the treat without sticking and help you to make everything even in just a few seconds.

Let it sit for about 30 minutes to an hour on the counter until it’s hardened and set in place. To speed up the setting time, you can also place it in the fridge just for a few minutes. Then you can cut it up into little squares and serve. Or if you’re like me and have zero chill when it comes to dessert, big squares! ;)

After making rice krispie treats at home, I refuse to buy them pre-packaged anymore. This seriously takes an entire 10 minutes of my time to make and it’s a million times better. If you wanted to be even more festive, you could also add in some green food coloring. I’m not exactly the best when it comes to adding the correct amount of dye, so I just decided against that. If you do make this yourself, tag me on social media (links are at the bottom of the post), or come back and leave me a comment letting me know what you think!

To keep with the St. Patty’s Day theme, I decided to go with mint green, white, and gold on my nails this week. The green is an Ella + Mila polish in the shade Pistache. I can’t remember the last time I used this polish, but I definitely wasn’t very pleased with it when I was painting my nails. The color is beautiful, but it has a super thin consistency and was very streaky. I ended up applying 3 coats in order to make it look as opaque as I wanted. The gold is called On A Gilt Trip from Nicole by OPI and the white is Snow Me White by Sinful Colors. Both of those are some of my favorite polishes that I use all the time!

What’s on your nails this week?
