Lancome Monsieur Big Mascara Review

It’s no secret that I’m absolutely obsessed with mascara. It’s also no secret that companies keep changing the formula of their products, discontinuing certain products, and releasing new ones. Thanks to that little chain of events, I feel like I’m always on the hunt for the perfect mascara. If you’ve read my mascara routine, then you’d know I typically like to pair two mascaras together because I want my lashes to look as big and as thick as possible without wearing falsies. I feel like that shouldn’t be too much to ask, right?!

I received this Lancome Monsieur Big mascara from Influenster and was super excited to try it. I mean, duh, it’s a brand new mascara. This was just released in mid July and is retailing at $25 for .33 oz of product. Considering it is one of the high-end brands, that price point doesn’t surprise me. I’m not saying that’s what I typically pay for a mascara, but that is what you’ll see from Lancome and other similar brands.

I can’t ever remember a mascara that I’ve tried from Lancome that has really wowed me in the past and honestly, I wasn’t extremely happy to see that it has traditional bristles. I tend to like rubber bristles better because I find them easier to brush through the lashes with. This is quite a big wand, so it does take some time to get comfortable with. In the pictures below, you’ll see the entire application process. Starting with nothing, then curling the lashes, and adding three coats of mascara. Three coats is a lot, but I told you -- I love mascara.

Below is a side by side comparison so you can really tell the difference. In the before picture, you can’t even see my lashes at all. Not only do I have eyeshadow on them, but there’s also no curl to them and they basically look invisible. That’s why I always say curling your lashes is so important!! After three coats, you can definitely tell that my lashes are much fuller than they were before. This mascara is mainly marketed as a volumizing mascara, but I am able to get a good amount of length out of it too.

Overall, I have to say I am actually really impressed with this mascara. I am much happier with it than I thought I was going to be and I noticed that on my very first application. It does claim to last all day, which I don’t completely agree with. It isn’t as thick and doesn’t weigh down the lashes as much as I was expecting, but it does disappear quite a bit by the end of the day. I have used a primer with this, as well as layered other mascaras on top of it and it has paired beautifully with both. It dries pretty quickly, which is nice, and I don’t have any trouble removing it.
