Revolution x Emily The Wants Tutorial

It wasn’t until I sat down and started editing this that I realized my last tutorial also featured the Revolution x The Emily Edit collection. Sometimes I plan things to be that way, but this time it just happened on accident. That’s how much I’m truly enjoying these palettes. They’re so good, I haven’t been wanting to use anything else! For this tutorial, I thought it’d be fun follow along with one of Emily’s first looks she shared with this palette. I loved the 4-in-1 video that she did and the more natural look is what caught my attention the most...obviously.

If you go back and watch Emily’s tutorial, this is look #3 that she did. The first step was priming the eyes with Milani’s eyeshadow primer, which is both mine and Emily’s fave. Then it was straight to Prayer with a fluffy brush in the crease. I typically put my transition colors a little on the outer half of my lid too, but that’s not what Emily did so I had to stop myself.
Highlighting the browbone is usually one of the last steps in my eyeshadow routine, but Emily did that second in this look. She used a fluffy brush to apply The Cream underneath the brow. My brows aren’t as lifted as hers, so I decided to use a more dense brush to get a brighter result and create the illusion of having more space in that area of my face.
Eve Rose is the lid shade for this look and Emily recommends swiping the brush with a little bit of pressure for the shimmer shades that are in this palette. I always apply the shadows in this area with my finger first to get the most intense application and then blend it in the crease with a brush afterwards. This has to be one of the most gorgeous, underrated shades in this palette. It’s so unique!
Capricorn was used in a light patting motion on the outer corner of the eyelid only, slightly overlapping Eve Rose where they meet. This is a very intensely pigmented shade! I applied way too much the first time I used it, so definitely start with a light hand and build up in thin layers. It’s such a beautiful mix of brown and purple that leaves behind a soft satin finish on the eyes.
The matte medium brown Apartment shade went in the crease to deepen up the look and add just a little bit of dimension. Again, another highly pigmented shade so apply with caution. I used my Elf eyeshadow “C” brush and it worked great. These are also very creamy eyeshadows, so there’s not really any excess product that needs to be tapped off the brush. Be careful with how much product you’re picking up on the brush and how much pressure you’re using when placing it on the eye.
For the lower lash line, Capricorn pulled everything together. Emily didn’t use any eyeliner in this look, which was such a refreshing change. I don’t normally make the lower lash line shades too intense because of my eye shape, but Capricorn could definitely provide a more smokey effect if needed.
Emily ended the look there and added mascara, but as I looked in the mirror I could see there were a few things I needed to add. Because I wasn’t using my typical eyeshadow routine, I didn’t apply Prayer high enough in the crease and it was getting too overlapped by Apartment. So I blended a little more of Prayer on top of the other shades at the edge of my crease and also added some of The Cream to brighten my inner corner.
Then I curled my lashes and added three coats of the Wander Beauty Unlashed Volume & Curl mascara. I finally finished my Tarte Tarteist mascara and this is my second favorite one that I currently had open. It’s super easy to work with and adds exactly what I need to my lashes.
Here’s a close-up of the final look:

This might come as a shock, being that I’m a beauty blogger and all, but I’ve never actually followed a tutorial step-by-step before. I watch and read tutorials to learn about products and I might learn about one or two new techniques that I want to try. But other than that, I always stick to the same routine. It definitely felt strange applying my makeup in a different way and order than normal, but I love the result!
Emily knows makeup! That’s all I could keep saying when I looked in the mirror after finishing this look. It used a lot of colors and techniques that I never would have done on my own. I wouldn’t be surprised if I ended up recreating all of her tutorials with this palette! No one knows this product better than she does. Emily even pulled it all together with one of my current favorite lip products - L’oreal’s Infallible Lip Paint in the shade Nude Star. Such a gorgeous combo!

I had originally planned on wearing a light pink this week, but then I second guessed myself and thought about a light gray instead. After comparing with my wheel swatches, I decided to go with Butter London’s Yummy Mummy. We just started October, so it only makes sense. This normally isn’t my favorite formula because it’s always chipped on me fairly quickly in the past. However, I haven’t used it with my new favorite base coat yet, so I’m feeling a little more confident that it will (hopefully) last all week!
What’s on your nails this week?
