Unexpected Makeup Finds #9

With the beauty market being as saturated as it currently is and the claims on products becoming more outrageous with every new release, it’s almost impossible to know what is actually any good and what is just an empty promise. Although most of the makeup products I try are pretty good, there are a few that are exceptionally surprising in their quality and performance.

When it was first recommended to me by a stylist to try this As I Am Coconut Cowash, I was beyond nervous about it. I have extremely oily hair and was worried that using a cowash would make it even worse. Thankfully, I’ve had a really positive experience with this product so far and will definitely be repurchasing it in the future.

It does a great job at cleansing my hair while also leaving it soft, shiny, and more manageable. It does take quite a bit of scrubbing to get this all throughout the hair, but it’s worth it because there’s no need to use a conditioner afterwards. Aside from how healthy it leaves my hair, the fact that it’s an all-in-one type of product is one of my favorite things about it!

Improving my skin imperfections has become one of my top priorities over the past few years. I’ve used a ton of different products to tackle many of my skin concerns, but nothing seemed to be able to eliminate the texture on my cheeks like I wanted. I’m the biggest wimp ever and the thought of using a roller full of needles was insanely terrifying.

After I finally convinced myself to try it, I was so surprised to find that it actually didn’t hurt at all! I started with a .25 mm needle and upgraded to a .5 mm roller to get better results. I couldn’t feel any difference on my skin when transitioning to the larger needles, but I could definitely see the results! In order to let my skin heal in between treatments, I only use this once every other week. I’m amazed at how smooth this has actually made my skin!

This Ofra single eyeshadow in the shade Bliss has been in my collection for a while, but it wasn’t until a few months ago that I realized how flattering this particular shade is on the eyes. The formula is one of the best I’ve ever used and I love how the bronze shimmer brightens the entire face. It’s great on its own, as shown in my two-step eye makeup tutorial. But it can also compliment so many other eyeshadow combinations all year round.

Cream blush has never been a favorite makeup product of mine, but right now it seems to be the only thing that will stay on my face. I’ve been playing with a few different formulas and the one that I’ve been the most impressed with is from Pixi.

This particular palette was part of their Dulce Candy collaboration and can be used on both the face and eyes, but it’s really got me interested in some of their other cream products. The formula is super pigmented, easy to blend, and I love that it’s made with healthy ingredients such as antioxidants and minerals so I can wear it without worrying about any breakouts.

When it came to nail polish remover, I always just got the store brand because I thought they were all the same. I never thought twice about it until the store brand was sold out and I had to buy the Cutex name brand option instead. I’ve gone through an entire bottle of this already and I still cannot believe how much faster this removes my nail polish!

I used to scrub for at least five minutes to get my nail polish off, even when wearing a simple cream finish. With the Cutex brand, I can have the polish off both hands in under two minutes with almost zero scrubbing. This is something I can’t ever be without again!

Discovering these products was so exciting because they all caught me by surprise and performed in ways I wasn’t expecting. I never would’ve thought that I could use a cowash with my oily hair, or that buying a name brand nail polish remover would actually make a difference. This is why trying new products is so much fun, you never know what you’ll find!
