Coffee Pot Comparison

If you follow me on Instagram or have read last month’s August Favorites post, then you probably have seen me feature this OXO coffee maker before and mention how much I have really been enjoying it. Although I love coffee, I was not loving my Keurig. I used it for a little over a year before I just couldn’t handle it anymore and went to Target to buy a simple $17 Mr. Coffee coffee maker. Life was much better! After enjoying it so much, I felt a strong urge to review it on Influenster and let others know how much better it was than the popular, more expensive Keurig machine. Little did I know that months later, Influenster would be as kind as they are to include me in their OXO Voxbox. So now, I thought it would be a fun idea to compare the two and see what a $180 difference really makes!

I grew up with a simple coffee maker like this one from Mr. Coffee and it was great. We never had a problem with it and it always produced delicious coffee. But when the Keurig was introduced, it replaced all the coffee makers in almost every home including my own. After about a year of dissatisfaction from the Keurig and the inconvenience of it, I was dying to have the old one back again. And for only $17.89 at Target, nothing was stopping me.

Once I got it home, I fell in love with it all over again. It brews coffee so much faster, especially when making it for multiple people. Every part about it is more affordable, it’s easier to clean, and the taste is so much stronger. I looked forward to using it every morning and loved the fact that it couldn’t be any more simple. I had exactly what I needed and was perfectly content.

Then I got an email letting me know I would be receiving this OXO Barista Brain 9 Cup Coffee Maker. Honestly, my first thought was that it was going to be just like the Keurig since it’s higher in price and have claims that it wouldn’t be able to hold up to. When I received it, I was impressed with how fancy it looked but also very confused as to how it was supposed to work. It has an entire booklet explaining different features, but I need simple. So I just focused on how to make the coffee and that’s it.

This gave me the strongest tasting coffee. I’m not even kidding. I used the same measurements as directed and didn’t even recognize that it was the same coffee I had been brewing with the other two machines. The carafe keeps the coffee hot for hours, it brews very quickly, and it is still easy to clean. I think it has a sleek look to it, which adds a nice updated feel to the kitchen and it’s fun to watch the water bubble up as it brews.
Although I will always be a fan of the Mr. Coffee and recommend it to everyone, I am also very surprised with myself in how impressed I am with the OXO machine. It definitely brings out the entire flavor of the coffee grounds and is a great investment option for complete coffee addicts. Much better than the Keurig on every level imaginable. Mr. Coffee will absolutely get the job done and will do it well, but the OXO is also a wonderful advancement.

What coffee maker do you use? Let me know in the comments! I’d also love to hear which coffee is your favorite, there’s so many options!
