September Boxycharm Unboxing

Boxycharm took forever to get here this month! We were getting close to the very middle of the month and I still hadn’t even received my shipping email yet. It’s now the end of the month and the box is just now arriving for me to get this post up. Y’all know how much I always rave about this beauty subscription service, but if I ever had to complain about one thing it would definitely be their inconsistent shipping. But I have it now, so here we are and I cannot wait to jump right in and share with you the products that were included in the September box, but as usual we’ll be reviewing last month’s products first to see how they all worked out for me.

~Aloette Cosmetics Time Repair Serum~ I’ve been focusing on a few new skincare products lately, so I didn’t want to disturb that introduction process too much. But I did find the time to use this product every so often and really like how refreshing it is. Since I didn’t use it consistently over the month, I don’t know how well it really repaired the fine lines and wrinkles on my face (yes, I have them), but I did enjoy the cooling sensation that it provided during initial application.

~Doucce Cosmetics Maxlash Volumizer Mascara~ As mentioned in the unboxing post, I didn’t try this product out. It just went straight to my back stock of mascaras that I have, but updates will come once I eventually get to it.

~Beauty for Real Shadow Stx (All Day Latte)~ I really had to make myself use this product in order to have some kind of review to say about it. Shadow sticks aren’t something I typically like to use, but this one does have a nice smooth consistency and I found it very easy to work with. I don’t know that it really “dried” in 15 seconds, but it did stay in place all day after putting eyeshadow on top of it.

~Dirty Little Secret Velvet Matte Liquid Lipstick (Phantom)~ This is another product that I didn’t try yet. Other than swatching it on my hand and seeing that it did dry matte, I don’t have much else that I can say about it. This isn’t a color that I typically like to wear, so I have to plan something specific to wear it with otherwise it’ll never get used!

~Coastal Scents Mini Blush & Bronzer Palette~ For having a few Coastal Scents products in the past and noticing a lot of inconsistencies within their eyeshadows, I have to say I was really impressed with this face palette. I didn’t use the shimmery shades very much, but the matte formulas were great. The bronzer had a nice color to it that looked pretty natural. The blush was a lot more intense than I was expecting, but it stayed all day which is a big bonus.

Overall, last month’s box was just so-so I would say. I can see how there would be products in it that a lot of people would really like, so I can’t complain about that. It’s just that the products weren’t as intriguing to me as what has been included in past boxes. The theme for September’s box is Camp Glam and let me just start off by saying it has some really exciting products!

The first, and biggest, item in the box is this Hairgurt Smoothing Hair Masque from Project Beauty. The scent is strawberry banana and it retails at $11 for 4 fl. oz of product. I love refreshing fruity scents, so I’m really happy about that and I’m also interested in the ingredients listed on the packaging. It says it’s free of sulfates and parabens, but includes prebiotics, quinoa, yogurt protein, and bio-keratin to smooth and tame frizzy, dry hair. It is to be used after shampooing and only has to sit for 5 to 10 minutes.

If you follow me on social media or saw my last post, you would have seen this next product featured already. It’s a nail polish from Butter London and is in the shade Yummy Mummy ($15). I think that’s such a cute name, especially since we’re making our way into October. I’ve been really looking into a few of the lighter, natural-ish shades lately so I’m extra excited to have received this polish. Besides the fact that nail polish is one of my favorite items to get in a subscription box anyway.

While nail polish is something I love receiving in subscription boxes, lip products have to be my least favorite and is even one of the main reasons I cancelled my ipsy. But since Boxycharm isn’t a customizable box, there’s not much I can do about it. This is the Lip Lure Hydrating Lip Lacquer from PĂśR Cosmetics and is in the shade Graceful ($22). It feels like very high-quality, but a little heavy packaging. It has a shower-head applicator and seems like a color that would be great to use as we transition into Fall.

Next is a retractable pencil eyeliner from Hikari Cosmetics and is in the shade Raven ($13). Black eyeliners are such a staple item in makeup collections and will get used eventually. Usually I stick to brown or eggplant eyeliners, but have found myself reaching for black liners recently. I have another one of these same Hikari eyeliners in my collection already and the texture of them is very smooth.

The last item is the box is probably what I’m most excited about because eyeshadows are something you can never have too many of. This is StudioMakeup’s On-the-Go Eyeshadow Palette. It includes nine eyeshadows (5 mattes, 4 shimmers) and retails for $50. I’ve gotten a StudioMakeup blush in a Boxycharm months ago and loved the texture and pigmentation on it, so I’m expecting the same quality from this palette.

There is a slight mixture of cool and warm-toned shades, but in person it seems to lean more on the warmer end. Just glancing at this palette, I definitely see that it has everything in it to create an entire eyelook which is something I don’t always find in many palettes. I do plan on posting a separate review with more details and swatches after I get to play with it more, so I only swatched a few shades in the picture below. But I think it’s pretty obvious already that the pigmentation is definitely there.

I’m very excited about this month’s box! I don’t exactly think it was worth the wait on the shipping, so hopefully they’ll improve on that soon. But the products they included are much better for me than last month. The value of this box is $111 and for only paying $21 a month, I am very happy! If you haven’t signed up for Boxycharm yet or would like to find out more information about their service, you can visit their website here.

Let me know in the comments what products you’re most excited from this month’s box. I’d also love to hear what other subscription services you receive every month!
