October Boxycharm Unboxing

Happy Saturday everyone! It’s always a good day when your Boxycharm comes in the mail and you get to play with all of your new goodies. Yayyy! If you’re unsure of what Boxycharm is, it’s a monthly subscription service for beauty products. It’s $21 a month and you always get five full sized (sometimes deluxe sample size) products. I was subscribed to Ipsy for a little over a year before I cancelled my subscription. Even though Ipsy is cheaper ($10 a month), you only received mostly sample size products and I was never super excited about the products that were in all of my bags. That’s when I switched to Boxycharm (three months ago) and have been absolutely loving every box that I have received. So let’s see what’s in this month’s box!

It always comes with a little note card on the inside explaining each product in the box and how much it costs. I usually don’t look at the card until afterwards because I don’t want to ruin the surprise! The first thing I picked out of the box was a black eyeliner from Lord & Berry. This product retails at $18 for .03 oz. and says that it’s made with kajal and kohl for smooth application on the lash line or to be easily blended out on the lid. When I swatched it on my hand in the picture below, the description was right it is very smooth. It also claims to be waterproof which will be good for my oily skin.

The next product I received is the Punk Volumizer Mascara by Doucce which sells for $24. It claims to separate, lengthen, and add extreme volume with it’s XXL brush. The first thing I noticed about this was its awesome packaging. It didn’t look like your typical mascara and I think it just makes it that much more fun. It does have traditional bristles, so hopefully it won’t be clumpy as I usually find most of them to be. It does have a little bit of a rubbery smell, but nothing compared to Covergirl mascaras. They weren’t kidding when they said XXL brush either, that thing’s as big as my eyeball. It needs to come with a warning label!
The third item I saw in the box was a cheek and lip stain by Bellapierre in the shade Coral. This product costs $19.99 for .176 oz. I think it’s a pretty small amount of product for it being full size and although the description said it’s lightweight and oil-free, it did feel a little slippery when I swatched it. I’m not so sure I would use this on my cheeks because I’m not a fan of cream blushes, but I do think it’s a beautiful color and am curious to see if it’ll really stain my lips or not.

Next is the Palmetto Derma Rejuvenating Antioxidant Mask which retails at $64 for a 1.75 oz. container. Excuse me? That is way to expensive for that amount of product, so I’ll be having very high expectations when I use this. It’s a clay mask that says it has a cooling effect as it cleanses and purifies your skin while defending against free radicals. It sounds promising! The scent of this, as random as it is, reminds me exactly of the sleepytime tea by Celestial Seasonings. I smelled a lot of chamomile with a spearmint background. It also says it’s 99% natural and 70% organic, which probably explains the price point. While I would never pay that much for this product on its own, it amazes me how that one product is three times the price of this whole box! That just makes me so happy!
The last item in this month’s box is a nail polish by the brand Cult. It costs $12 for .5 oz. and I have mine in the shade Boneyards. OMG I love that name! Well, maybe not the name in particular but it totally fits this color. It’s the perfect gray that’s on the darker side of the spectrum and I can’t wait to try it! I can definitely see me using this color a ton in the upcoming months. The picture makes it look darker than it is in person. It’s like a true steel gray, maybe with a hint of blue hidden in the undertones.
I think we need a drum roll for this...the total value of the box this month is $138! I really have no idea how Boxycharm even makes any money, but I’m loving it! I’m happy that all five products are full-size and I think I’ll get good use out of each one. I’ll be putting all of them to the test during the rest of this month and will do a complete review when I get next month’s box.
