October Favorites

Yayy, it’s Friday! I hope everyone had a great week! Now that it’s the end of October, I figured it would be appropriate to share with you the things I have been using constantly this month. October has been pretty busy for me with a lot of events, which means I needed trustworthy products that were going to stay on my oily skin and last through long days. I’ve loved a lot of these products for a while now and know they’re gonna perform for me when I need them to. So let’s get started!

When it comes to face products, I’m someone who doesn’t like to feel heavy makeup on the skin. On a day to day basis you’ll be lucky to even find me with a BB cream on. Usually it’s just concealer in a couple places and that’s it as far as liquid products go. But when I have long days and I know there’s gonna be a lot of pictures, I go the extra mile. I love the Maybelline Dream Wonder foundation. I have mine in the shade Classic Ivory which is a little too light for me, but I make it work. It’s more light-weight than any of my BB creams, so it’s really comfortable to wear. It does have an SPF of 20, but there isn't any white cast in pictures.

My favorite concealer in the whole world is the Maybelline Fit Me concealer. It blends out so smoothly and is also not very heavy on the skin at all. I have three different shades of this, but the one I wanted to mention today is the color Deep. It’s the second to darkest shade in their line and I use it to contour with. I’ll put this over the foundation and layer with a contour powder or bronzer to keep it in place and add to the effect. This is a really good tip if you have oily skin, especially if you’re constantly battling humid weather too!

On days where I just use a little concealer but want some extra coverage, I’ll use my NYC BB Radiance Perfecting Powder. I have mine in the shade Naturally Beige which matches me perfectly. It’s super smooth and soft, very light feeling, and adds just enough coverage to make the skin look naturally perfect (not cakey). My favorite way to apply it is with a dense kabuki brush.

I know highlighting is all the rage right now, and I’m sorry, but with my oily skin and the humidity, extra shine all over my face is the last thing I want. However, when using so many other products, I do use just a little highlight to balance everything out. Definitely not an everyday deal though. I’ve loved the natural highlight Wet N Wild’s "bronzer" in Reserve Your Cabana has given me in the past. Although it's clearly not a bronzer in any way, it is very consistent with all of their other products on how soft and smooth it is.

In my first Boxycharm, I received this So Susan Statement Skin Highlighter Crayon in Candle Light. It is absolutely stunning, but oily skin won’t let me where this crayon on its own. So, again, for staying power I layer these two products together and love the way they look! Not too dramatic, but gentle enough. The swatch shows Reserve Your Cabana on bottom, Candle Light in the middle, and the two of them layered at the top.

Since I talked about these in a previous blog, I’m sure this will come as no surprise that my two favorite blushes are NYX’s HD blush in Amber and Makeup Geek’s Spellbound. I have basically only been using these two blushes exclusively this month. I just can’t get enough of them! Spellbound looks good with everything and Amber just screams Fall to me. The texture of these is about the same, although the pigmentation and staying power with Spellbound is better. I highly recommend both of these precious gems.

When I first got this next product, I wasn’t too sure about it. It had crazy claims that it could be suitable for any hair color from blonde to black, and while I still don’t think that’s the case I do love this product now. This is the IT Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil in Universal Taupe. I just have a deluxe sample size which is $12. The full size is $24. It takes a little bit to build the color up on this at first because it’s a more dry textured crayon type, but once it’s applied it doesn’t go anywhere. I never set my brows with any type of gel, wax, etc. with this product and I never have a problem. It’s a really pretty shade with no hidden undertones, which makes it look very natural. The spoolie that’s attached is actually really good also.
My favorite eye looks this month have been so simple and easy, I love it! Usually I like a light champagne color all over my eyelid, but lately I’ve been reaching for the bronze, copper, and gold shades. All I do is put the Be A Bombshell Eyebase in Submissive all over my eyelid as a primer, blend any brown into the crease and a little on the outer corner, put one of the other three shades over the rest of the eyelid, add whatever color eyeliner I feel like, some mascara, and call it quits. The three shades I’ve been rotating through are Ulta’s Lustre, Ofra’s Bliss, and the L’oreal Infallible eyeshadow in Amber Rush. I love the texture, pigmentation, and staying power of all of these shades. In the swatch below, Submissive is on top, followed by Amber Rush, Bliss, and Lustre.

When it comes to lips, I’m on of those girls who just throws on tinted lip balm and that’s about it. I’m too obsessed with eyeshadows and blushes to be worrying about all kinds of lip colors. But lately, I have been wearing this combo every single time I put on makeup. Any time I ever did wear lipstick, Revlon’s Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie has always been my go-to! Seriously, I’ve never gone through any lipstick, but I’m on my third tube of this one. I always get compliments and questions when I wear it, which makes me know it’s beautiful. It’s a lot smoother on the lips than a lipstick because it’s a lip butter, which is a plus.

I know these are really popular, but I’m not the biggest fan of the EOS Lip Balm Spheres. They’re just not as moisturizing as I was expecting them to be. So if you’re looking to use it as a lip balm to help chapped lips, I’d choose something else. But if you’re looking for something to apply under lipsticks that won’t be too heavy or glossy, this is a good option. I have mine in Summer Fruit and it’s the best smelling thing ever. If they made that scent into a body spray, I’d probably live in it and spray it on everything!

To add just a subtle definition, I’ve been enjoying this Jordana Easyliner for Lips automatic lip pencil in Rock N’ Rose. I love their eyeliners and their lipliners are just the same quality. They’re really smooth and very well pigmented, but not too smooth to where you have to worry about it breaking off. On the lips, this liner combined with Berry Smoothie creates the perfect look, especially if you want to go the berry route for Fall without getting too vampy.

I love and highly recommend all of these products. If you want a specific review on any particular item, please let me know and I’d be happy to get that done. Also, I’d love to hear any of your favorite products this month. I hope everyone has a super fun weekend and a very safe Halloween!

And here’s a little Friday funny for your enjoyment :)
