C. O. Bigelow My Favorite Night Balm Review

I can’t even believe I’m writing a review on a lip balm other than the Smith's Rosebud Salve that I talk so much about. But when I was just wandering around Bath & Body Works one day, minding my own business in smelly-good land, this C. O. Bigelow My Favorite Night Balm jumped out at me. I have another one of their lip glosses, the Mentha Supreme 2X, and I really like it. However, I’ve also tried their My Favorite Lip Balm and wasn’t very impressed. So I wasn’t really sure what I was getting myself into with this brand. The cashier did inform me that it’s a great product when I was checking out, but sometimes you never know. You know?!

This lip balm retails at $7.50 and comes with .34 oz of product. It’s not that expensive for a lip balm when compared to other options that are available. However, it is when you consider how much product you’re getting. For example, the Smith’s Rosebud Salve is $6 for .8 oz. That’s a significant difference in size and should be reflected in the price, but it’s not unfortunately. I should also take a quick moment to mention that Bath & Body Works does have a C. O. Bigelow Rosebud Salve, not to be confused with the Smith’s Rosebud Salve that I love.

I mentioned in my April Favorites that it’s been a nice change having this balm in a squeeze tube rather than a container that you have to dip your finger in, like the rosebud salve. It just makes it a little easier and less messy. It also has very small packaging, so it would be perfect to travel with or carry in your purse for a nice lip treatment throughout the day. It is just a clear gloss and doesn’t feel heavy on the lips at all. It stays on even after getting a full 8 hours of sleep and leaves my lips feeling smooth, soft, and moisturized. Sometimes my lips will get too used to a product if I use it so many times in a row and I’ll start seeing different results, but I haven’t had that issue with this balm.

You can almost taste the shea butter in it slightly if you happen to lick your lips, but it’s nothing too powerful and doesn’t have a very strong smell. Testing this product after being so obsessed with my rosebud salve, I had really high expectations for what I wanted (and needed) in an overnight balm. This product stood up to all of those expectations and is exactly what I look for when I know I need a treatment to last a minimum of 8 hours. Aside from the price and size difference, I definitely recommend this lip balm and will most likely be repurchasing it when I run out. If you have any questions, let me know in the comments. And I’d love to hear your experiences if you’ve ever tried it before too!

This week, I chose a color I don't wear very often. I thought the Sinful Colors nail polish in High Stakes was a gorgeous color when it was in the bottle at the store, but once I put it on my nails I wasn't as in love with it. It's different than most other Sinful Colors polishes because it has a more thin formula and still looks a little streaky after a full two coats. I think it's a nice color for other things, just maybe not with my skin tone.

What’s on your nails this week?
