May Boxycharm Unboxing

My Boxycharm is here!! Thankfully, it arrived pretty close to the middle of the month so the anticipation waiting for it wasn’t too horrible. In case you’ve missed any of my previous Boxycharm Unboxings, you can find them all here. If you’re unfamiliar with Boxycharm, they are a monthly subscription box that charges $21 to deliver 4-5 full size beauty products. There are many beauty subscription services out there, but Boxycharm is by far my favorite because of the amount that you get for the price that you pay. If you’d like to find out more or sign up, you can visit their website. As always, I’ll review last month’s products before getting into what I received in this month’s box.

~Anderson Lilley Manhattan Beach Beach Butter Hand Cream~
I am in loveee with this hand cream. Still not the biggest fan of this particular scent, but the texture of it is amazing. It feels so luxurious and nourishing every night when I apply it before bed. Definitely my favorite item out of April’s box!

~PĹ«r~lisse Daily Lip Nourisher~
I had high expectations from this because I really liked the high-quality feel of their under-eye cream that we had received in a previous box, but I wasn’t as impressed with the lip nourisher. It did feel nice on the lips and wasn’t really heavy in consistency, but it didn’t moisturize them throughout the night like I was hoping.

~Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick (Pasadena)~
I’ve only tried one of Ofra’s Long Lasting Liquid Lipsticks before and I wasn’t in love with it, but that was probably because it wasn’t a color I’d usually wear. However, I think Pasadena is such a popular color right now and definitely was in my comfort zone. The formula was very mousse-like and light-weight on the lips. I’m not sure how long lasting it truly is, but I’m definitely loving the color.

~Blinc Cosmetics Black Lash Primer~
As mentioned in the unboxing post, I wasn’t planning on trying this product just yet as I continue to work my way through the seven other mascaras that I have open right now. But updates will come when I do get a chance to test it.

~Your Minerals Loose Eyeshadow (Brown Hypnotic)~
I always talk about how I don’t really love loose eyeshadows and this particular product definitely fell in line with that. While it wasn’t horrible because the color is actually really pretty, it’s not something I reach for very often because I don’t want to deal with the mess.

Overall, last month’s box had a lot of things that I was interested in trying and it was pretty typical of when I test things out. Some of it I really wanted to love, but didn’t and others I wasn’t expecting to love as much as I do. The theme for this month’s box is Spring Vibes and just as a fair warning, I think this is my favorite box I have ever received!

The first item is a Starlooks Lip Pencil ($19.50) in the shade Charmed. From the packaging and name of this product, I think it’s a collaboration between Boxycharm and Starlooks. I’ve had a few of Starlooks products before and did like them pretty well. However, I won’t be able to test this lip pencil out just yet because there was a little problem when I opened it. It was completely empty!! There was no product smashed in the lid and I could see the empty plastic packaging inside the actual tube. I was so disappointed, but I have reached out to Boxycharm and their customer service was so sweet. They’ll be adding a replacement for me in next month’s box.

Honestly, I wasn’t very excited about this Catherine Malandrino Romance de Provence travel sprayer ($20) when I first pulled it out of the box. We had gotten a perfume from this brand a couple months ago and I didn’t like it very much at all. But when I sprayed this, I was much more impressed with the sweet scent it has and can definitely see me wearing this. The reference card says that the two main notes are pear and black currant, with jasmine, rose, violet, vanilla, patchouli, and tonki bean behind it. I’m not necessarily the biggest fan of this blue packaging, but definitely appreciate that it’s a spray.

Next up is a clear, waterproof eyebrow gel from Tonya Crooks. I’ve never heard of this brand before, but you do get .169 oz of product and this retails for $20. That’s more than I would typically spend on a product like this, which is why I love Boxycharm so much. The price of this product alone is the price of the box! The packaging feels very nice and sleek, and I was happy to see that the formula wasn’t clumpy when I initially pulled the wand out of the tube. It is a bigger wand than what I would think to be ideal for the eyebrows, but I’ll see how I can make it work.

Another brand I’ve never heard of, but a product I’m so excited to have is this Ella + Mila nail polish in the shade Pistache. What a cute name!! I love creamy pastel shades and this one is beautiful. Looking at the packaging and reference card, I’m excited to see that this company doesn’t include Formaldehyde, Toluene, DiButyl Phthalate (DBP), Formaldehyde Resin, or Camphor in any of their products and that all of their polishes are certified by PETA. There’s .5 oz of polish in the bottle, which is a very good amount and I’m happy to see that they only retail for $10.50 each, which is about the same as OPI. Plus, the elephants on the packaging are super cute!

The fifth item in the box is a Double Ego Dual-Ended Eyeliner from PĂśR in the shade Bora Bora. Again, another great name! On one end is a liquid liner and the other end is a retractable pencil. I think this deep blue shade will be perfect for the summer months, not to mention that blue eyeliners are also supposed to make your eyes appear more white (just like the effect blue-based lipsticks have on your teeth). This eyeliner is $21, but they included a coupon code in the box for 25% off your next purchase on their website. Use the code BOXYCHARM at checkout, but you have to hurry because it’s only good for a couple of days! I should also mention that the liquid eyeliner is no joke. It will not come off!

Oh my goodness, oh my goodness, oh my goodness. Let’s just take a deep breath and get ready for the last item in this month’s box. Because not only did they include six products (compared to the promised 4-5), but they also included an unreleased Makeup Geek blush! Ahhhh, I seriously can’t even control my excitement!! We all know how much I absolutely adore Makeup Geek products (I talk about them constantly), but I have sooo been looking forward to them launching new blushes at the end of this month. So to get one before they’re even released just makes me over the moon excited. Dramatic, I know, but they have the best blush formula ever and they don’t include talc. The shade I have is Covet and the packaging is absolutely amazing, so sleek and high-quality. With the packaging, this item retails for $15 and is worth every single penny. And what did I tell you about that liquid eyeliner? I had a blue heart tattoo for the rest of the day, I’m not even kidding. So if you need something that will stay in place this summer, that eyeliner is definitely the way to go.

This box is definitely my favorite box that I have ever gotten in the ten months that I have been subscribed to Boxycharm. The total value isn’t as impressive when compared to other months as far as numbers, coming in at $106. But I am so excited about every single item that I got, which I don’t think I can say for any of the other months. Definitely give Boxycharm a try if you haven’t subscribed to them already, I really don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below, are you as excited as me??

~Mani Monday~
This week I was feeling a little bored of just the one color nail game and decided to switch it up. I chose the Sinful Colors polish in Candy Coated (light lavender) on most of my nails and added an accent of the Sinful Colors polish in Snow Me White and the Nicole by OPI polish in On A Gilt Trip (gold). I’ve never paired these three colors together before, but I’m definitely liking it!
