Adult Raspberry Hot Chocolate

It’s getting pretty cold here in Florida, especially at night. I’m probably just being a wimp, but 50 degree nights are enough of an excuse for me to bust out the cozy blankets and make some hot chocolate. It can’t be just any hot chocolate, though. The best has to be made from scratch. I do take a few shortcuts (hello, microwave) because I have zero patience for anything, but there’s nothing like making the mix yourself. One great thing about hot chocolate is that it can be paired with so many different add-ins that you’ll never be bored.

The ingredients you’ll need are:
~2 tbsp cocoa powder
~2 tbsp white sugar
~dash of salt
~1 cup milk
~¼ tsp vanilla extract
~raspberry liqueur (Chambord)

Of course we need to start with the mix, so add in the cocoa powder, white sugar, and salt in a mug. Stir those together until they’re completely combined. Then take two tablespoons of the milk and stir it in with the dry ingredients. This will create something that looks like brownie or cake batter and will act as a sort of syrup. It takes a bit of stirring, but once those 2 tbsp of the milk are combined with the dry ingredients, you can stir in the rest of the milk and microwave it for about one minute.

After it’s been heated in the microwave for a minute, take it out and stir in the vanilla extract. Then put it back in the microwave for another 30 seconds to one minute. Once it’s heated enough, you can take it out of the microwave. Stir everything together one more time and then we can add in the star of the show, the raspberry liqueur.

It’s totally up to you on how much you want to add in, whether you want to taste the alcohol or if you just want a slight raspberry flavor. I added in about 2 tbsp or so and that was perfect for me. From there, you can add a few marshmallows, some whip cream, actual raspberries, whatever else you may like. Again, the options with hot chocolate are endless and that’s part of what makes it so much fun! Besides drinking chocolate before bed, of course. ;)

Cozy up with a soft blanket, your comfiest pajamas, your loved ones and enjoy your night. And can we just take a second to think about the love we have for Target’s dollar section?! That’s where I found these super cute socks and they are sooo soft!! You can also add in non-alcoholic raspberry syrup for the kiddies. Target sells Starbucks raspberry syrup and it’s delicious in coffee, too. You’re welcome! ♥
