Empties ~ November 2016

It’s been quite a while since I’ve done an empties post and I think it was long overdue! These have just been accumulating in the basket in my closet for way too long and I’m ready to finally throw them out. I’ve also realized I have way too many little samples or trial size products sitting around and have started trying to make an effort to use those up. Does anybody else just leave them sitting around until it’s all way too cluttered or is that just me? I love samples, but I always wait forever to actually use them. I have a few to mention in this post, but that will probably (and hopefully) be the majority of my next empties. I need to make room for all the new things with the holidays coming up!

As always, I tried to keep things in categories as best as I could. Starting with body products, I have finally used up this huge Equate Moisture Care Advanced Recovery lotion. This is the Walmart brand that’s compared to the Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Repair lotion. I think store brands do a pretty good job at replicating name brand products and this was my favorite lotion before I discovered c.Booth. However, I did have to use it for a day or two when I ran out of my c.Booth lotion and realized that I didn’t like it as much anymore. I never noticed it before, but after going back to it I felt like it was much heavier than I remembered and also thought it took a while to absorb into the skin. I won’t be repurchasing this one and realized how much I love the c.Booth lotion more.

I finished a bottle of the Aveeno Therapeutic Shave Gel. I have somewhat sensitive skin when I shave my legs and since Aveeno is known for being more gentle, I decided to give it a try. This is actually found in the men’s shaving section and isn’t as pricey as I thought it would be. I know Aveeno isn’t the cheapest, but this was about average compared to the others. My favorite thing about it is how little product you have to use because it lathers so quickly and that it doesn’t have a scent. I have already repurchased this one and definitely plan on purchasing it again in the future.

For eyes, I think I’ve included this Opti-Free Replenish Contact Solution in a previous empties post but I wanted to mention it again because it really is the best. This is the only contact solution that I have ever used and in the past eight years, it’s never given me a problem. If you’re new to contacts or just looking for a comfortable solution, I definitely recommend this one!

My favorite eye drops that I have ever used are Thera Tears. They’re safe to use with contacts and sometimes I’ll use them during the day if the wind makes my eyes dry, but I mostly use them at night. They’re made for dry eyes and feel so refreshing after a long day. Whether I have a busy day out wearing contacts or a long day staring at a computer screen, these eye drops feel amazing and I will always repurchase.

I have a few different hair products including my favorite Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Moist Deep Conditioner. I’ve talked about this before, so I won’t spend too much time here. But it’s amazing and if you haven’t tried it yet, you neeeeed to! The Moist one is the best and I use it twice a week. I’ve also mentioned that I did like the PYT Argan Oil that I received in my July Boxycharm. It did make my hair soft, but the packaging wasn’t my favorite and I won’t be purchasing it with a price of $30 for 1 fl. oz of product.

Because the Aussie Deep Conditioner does such a great job keeping my hair soft and healthy, I very rarely ever have to use a hair mask. So it’s taken me a while, but I’ve finally finished the Pantene 2 Minute Moisture Masque. This was nice, it did the job fine and made my hair very soft. I probably won’t repurchase it because it’s not a product that I personally need in my routine, but if you like hair masks or are looking for an affordable one that works then it’s definitely one I would recommend.

For face products, I’ve gone through another one of the T.N. Dickinson’s Witch Hazel. This is my favorite one, I use it two or three times a day as my facial toner, and I have already repurchased it before I even completely ran out of this one. I’ve also been working on this Clark’s Botanicals Anti-Puff Eye Cream that I received all the way back in my March Boxycharm. It did feel nourishing on the skin, but I didn’t notice any significant effects so I won’t be purchasing it.

I had a few CeraVe samples, including the Therapeutic Hand Cream and the Hydrating Cleanser Bar. I really did like both of these products and could see myself purchasing them sometime in the future. I didn’t think I would like a bar facewash, but it was very gentle on the skin and left me feeling super clean. The hand cream was great to use at night, it was really moisturizing and absorbed pretty quickly.

This product isn’t necessarily completely empty, it’s just that I just couldn’t use it anymore. I did like the Crest Pro-Health HD Two Step System, but the products really do need to be used together. I ran out of Step 1 first and still tried to use what I had left of Step 2. It doesn’t work the same at all and I felt like I was just wasting my time. It’s still a nice product, but it needs the Step 1 toothpaste to go with it or it’s not the same.

I have quite a few makeup empties this time around, which is a little rare. I finished three products that I go through pretty regularly so I won’t go in much detail about those including the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer, the Equate Strengthening & Nourishing nail polish remover, and the L’oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions mascara. All three of those are favorites of mine and have already been repurchased.

The other two products took me what seemed like forever to finish, although I had multiple options of each that I have also been working through. The Covergirl Supersizer mascara definitely wasn’t a favorite of mine because it didn’t hold a curl or provide as much volume as I was hoping for. Although the wand on it was very nice. I did enjoy the POREfessional primer from Benefit. It blurred my pores and kept my makeup in place. It is one that I would recommend, but I probably won’t be repurchasing it because I have others that I like at a more affordable price and because there’s many other primers that I still want to try.

That was a ton of empties and I am so happy they finally get to be thrown in the real trash! Although now I have to clean my basket because apparently there was still a few drops of the argan oil that dripped out of the bottle and made everything greasy. Good thing the basket’s plastic! If you enjoyed this post and would like to see some of my previous empties, you can find them all here. If you have any other questions about the products I mentioned, please leave them for me in the comments!

I originally wanted to wear a black polish this week, which is very rare for me. But whenever a holiday rolls around, I try to stay somewhat festive. So I decided to put the black on my toes and paint my nails a dark blue for Veteran’s Day this weekend. I’m wearing a Sinful Colors polish in the shade Cold Leather. Although it doesn’t say it on the packaging, this is actually completely matte without a top coat. I like shiny nails better, so of course I went that route instead. But it is a beautiful color and we all know how much I love the quality on Sinful Colors nail polish.
