Ofra Liquid Lipstick Review

I feel like Ofra Liquid Lipsticks are what everyone is talking about. I honestly can’t even remember which was released first, ColourPop’s lip products or Ofra’s. Either way, they’ve both gained a huge cult following and it’s products like those that I have a hard time getting behind. Every time that happens and then I finally end up trying it, I’m never that impressed and realized that it was just hyped up for no reason. Take my ColourPop review, for example. Hated it. Boxycharm has included many Ofra Liquid Lipsticks in many of their boxes and being that it’s a product you can’t really get away from, I understand that they’re trying to make people happy. These products, for me, are the perfect example of a love-hate relationship.

Thanks to Boxycharm, I’ve received four different colors of Ofra’s Long-Lasting Liquid Lipsticks. The packaging varies among all four of them, which I thought was a little strange. I’ve never seen a company change the packaging of one product so many times. The price has always stayed the same at $19.90, but after looking at the description of each I’ve noticed that the amount has changed. The two smaller ones included 8 g of product, while the new bigger packaged ones only include 6 g. It is a really small difference, but still screams sketchy to me.

The first color I have is the shade Pasadena, which is a deeper mauve with some brown undertones. I think this is the most wearable shade and one that is extremely popular right now. The one I have is in the more simple packaging and the smallest tube. I actually prefer that because it doesn’t take up as much space in my collection and is easy to travel with.

The next shade is called Americano and it’s more of a terra cotta color, also with some brown undertones. I was actually a little worried about how this one would look because it is a more intense color than what I would usually wear, but it’s actually not that bad. It looks much more intimidating in the packaging. Once it’s on the lips, it looks just like any other deep red brown shade.

This one I just received in my most recent Boxycharm and it’s the shade Santa Ana. This has the newer packaging, which is bigger than the other two but feels more high-end because of it’s dark chrome handle. It swatches as a very bright berry pink, but looks more like a deep berry red when it’s on the lips. A very flattering color, especially for Summer.

The last shade is the weirdest one to me, even though I know the unusual colors are “in” right now. I think the name is perfect, Napa Valley, I just don’t think such a true purple belongs on your lips. On the nails, it’d be beautiful. On the lips, I can’t help but laugh. This is the only one that doesn’t have a matte finish. It’s more metallic and I could definitely tell a difference in the formula because of it. This one was actually the most creamy, whereas the others had a more mousse-like consistency.

I’m not really sure what to think about these liquid lipsticks. At first, I couldn’t stand them because the texture was so incredibly uncomfortable. After trying them more and getting used to it a little bit, I’ve come to look past that for the sake of the beautiful shades that they offer...aside from that purple, of course. I like their lightweight moussey consistency, although it does tend to tickle my lips during application. They do last a decent amount of time, but it gets pretty uncomfortable and the formula can settle into any lines on the lips which ends up making them look more dry. The nature of these types of products do dry out the lips anyway, so I usually put a lightweight lip balm underneath to make them more comfortable.

If you can deal with the sticky texture on your lips for a few minutes directly after application, then I'd recommend giving these a shot. They definitely take some getting used to and I'm happy to report that they're not as horrible to me as they used to be. So if you have a few of these laying around from subscription boxes and didn't like them previously, try playing with them some more and see what works for you.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to leave them for me in the comments below. Have you tried Ofra Liquid Lipsticks before? Did you find them to be uncomfortable?

  1. I have never tried this brand. I actually just tried the ColourPop liquid lipsticks and they aren't terrible. I'd say they are worth the $6. I have never tried Ofra but if they are as drying as you say I'd advise the Kat Von D line instead. They are the best formula of liquid lipsticks in my personal opinion.

    1. I have heard good things about the Kat Von D liquid lipsticks and I have had a really good experience with her products in the past, I'll have to look more into those. Typically, liquid lipsticks aren't my favorite just because of their drying nature and most of them are matte. I tend to like a more juicy effect and typically reach for tinted lip balms or lip butters instead. Revlon and Ulta make some of my favorites!

    1. That's such a popular shade right now! It looked so intimidating to me in the tube, but was actually a lot more wearable than I was thinking once I got it on the lips. I'm glad you enjoyed! Thank you for reading! :)
