October Boxycharm Unboxing

One of the best things about going on vacation and not spending time on electronics is that I completely forgot about my Boxycharm and when I got back home, there is was! Best surprise ever!! Usually I’m always stressing about when it will arrive, so that was a nice change this month. In case you’ve missed any of my previous unboxing posts or just don’t know the order by now, I’ll be quickly reviewing last month’s products first before getting into what was included in the October box.

~Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask~ This is the only product I didn’t end up trying last month. It says to use it after shampooing and to leave it in for 10 minutes. I don’t know about you, but I didn’t have 10 minutes to waste just sitting in the shower for this to work. When I get that time, I’ll let you know.

~bareMinerals Perfecting Face Brush~ This is marketed as a foundation brush, but I can’t stand using it that way. It is much too small and the bristles really pull at the face when trying to blend it in. I could also do without the dip in the middle because I didn’t notice that make any difference. However, I do really enjoy using the brush for concealer and cream contour.

~Mac Eyebrow Pencil (Spiked)~ I love this pencil! I still haven’t figured out how to twist it down, or if that’s even a feature on this product. But the color is a great match and I love how precise the fine tip is. I even used this on my wedding day if that gives you any idea of how well it works and how much I love it.

~StudioMakeup Luminous Loose Blush~ I was so worried about this one not only because of the mess loose powders can make, but also because I could see sparkles of glitter in the formula. Thankfully, the packaging makes it very easy to control how much product you let out at a time and after blending, I couldn’t see any glitter at all. The color is super pretty too!

~Pür Cosmetics Soirée Diaries Palette~ Another product I used on my wedding day! I’ve been really impressed with most of the Pür Cosmetics products that I’ve tried, including this one. I love the color selection that they chose to include and the formula of the eyeshadows is amazing. In case you missed it, don’t forget to check out my previous tutorial featuring this palette and other items from last month’s box. Also, stay tuned for a full review on this palette coming up on Wednesday.

~ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip (Little Stitious)~ For not liking many (if any) ColourPop products in the past, I was much more happy with the formula on this. It was very lightweight and extremely pigmented. I love that it’s not matte and the color did last for a while throughout the day. Call me crazy, but even after removing it I saw that it left behind a stain on my lips that was darker than the actual shade which I really enjoyed. My only complaint on this is the color, I think it’s just slightly too light for me and my preference but the formula is something that I would be interested in trying more of.

I can’t believe how impressed I was with so many of the products in last month’s box. It was definitely one of the better ones they’ve had in quite a while! The theme for this month’s box is Spellbound, which totally fits in since Halloween is just a few days away. There are a total of five products in the box, so let’s get to it!

The first, and biggest, item in the box is from Dr. Brandt. This is their Pore Perfecting Exfoliator which claims to deep clean and refine the appearance of pores, and smooth skin’s texture with its micro-crystal solution. It is for all skin types and is only to be used 1-2 times per week. It’s a very high-end item coming in at $58 and I’m really excited to see how it works because I’m currently working my way through their Microdermabrasion Age Defying Exfoliator that I got in my February Boxycharm and I love the way that one leaves me skin feeling super smooth.

Next is a product from Becca, which I can’t remember if we’ve received in our boxes before. I don’t believe we have, so that’s super exciting. I love to see them including more high-end products. I don’t pay much attention to highlighty type of products, but I feel like this is one of their more popular items currently. It is their Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid in the shade Prosecco Pop. It retails for $41 and comes with 1.7 oz of product. That is much more than I would spend, but doesn’t surprise me because of the brand. Having such incredibly oily skin, I’m not exactly sure how I’m going to use this product. I’ll, honestly, probably end up using it more on my body than I will on my face. I have more than enough natural highlight going on already!

The third item in the box is by the brand Dirty Little Secrets and is their Eye Shadow Crayon. This product retails for $14 and the shade that I have is called Illusion. I’m not usually a big fan of eyeshadow crayons just because they don’t typically last very long on my oily eyelids and it’s hard to find one with a good formula. However, this felt very smooth when swatching it which means it probably won’t tug at my eyelid when I blend it in. I think the color is beautiful and if you don’t have oily eyes, you could probably get away with just using this as a one stop type of product for a hint of shimmer.

I’ve never heard of the brand on this next product. This is the Jontéblu Lip Liner in the shade Spice. It retails for $5 and is just your typical old school type of pencil that you have to sharpen. Those tend to be a little more rough, so I’m hoping for a smooth formula on this one. The price point is great so if I do end up enjoying this product, I won’t be breaking the bank trying more shades. I really like the color they chose to include. It’s such a universal shade that will match almost every skin tone and can be paired with so many different lipsticks.

The last item in the box is one of the Tarte Tarteist Matte Lip Paints in the shade Pillowtalk ($20). I don’t think I’ve ever tried any of these before and although I’m sooo over matte lips, the formula on this is like nothing I’ve ever come across. It was very liquidy in the swatch and I’m interested to see what it feels like on the lips. Aside from the sticky formula that matte liquid lipsticks tend to have, I’m also worried about the shade. I thought it looked beautiful in the tube, but it seems super light in the swatch. I’ll try pairing it with the lip liner and see if I can get more of an ombré, defined type of look from this instead.

There were five items in the box that were all full size with three of them being very common high-end brands. That’s pretty impressive as far as what Boxycharm has to offer value wise. All the items in this box total $138, which is insane considering you only pay $21 for everything. If you haven’t signed up already, I definitely recommend visiting their website and making an account. The holidays will be here before you know it and these boxes can make an awesome gift!

If you have any other questions, please feel free to leave them for me in the comments section below! Did you receive this month’s Boxycharm? What were your favorite items?
