September Boxycharm Unboxing

I was actually a little worried that my Boxycharm wasn’t going to show up at all this month and that I wasn’t going to have this post to get up. I thought this was going to be the first month in the two years that I’ve had my blog that I’d have to miss a Boxycharm post. The tracking label took forever to show up in my email and after reaching out to customer service, I realized that they didn't even have my box prepared by the time I was already supposed to be receiving it. As if USPS doesn’t ever have their system together anyway, Hurricane Irma definitely messed everything up even more. Before we get into this month’s goodies, I’ll quickly be reviewing how last month’s products worked out for me.

~Pür Cosmetics Pro Lashes~ These did seem really nice and high quality, but I never ended up trying them on my eyes. As crazy as it sounds, I actually ended up putting these expensive lashes in a $1 frame to create a DIY wall art for my makeup room. In case you missed that post, you can check it out here to see how they look.

~Royal & Langnickel Moda Pro Brush Set~ I absolutely love these brushes. Not only are they super soft and feel very high-quality, but I love the brush options that they included in the set. I’ve been using them almost every time I do my makeup this past month. I do use the crease brush as it’s meant to be used, but I use the blush brush for bronzer and the contour brush for blending in concealer. You can obviously use any brush in whatever way you would like, that’s just how I’ve found those to work the best for me, my face shape, and the way I apply products.

~bellápierre Cosmetics Gel Eyeliner Pencil (Ebony)~ I just gave this over to my sister because, as I mentioned in my unboxing post, I had already received one of these from Boxycharm previously. The quality on it is good, but it’s not as creamy as some of my favorites like Hikari and Lancome.

~Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Volume II Palette~ The formula on these shadows was so interesting to me, it’s nothing like I’ve ever felt before. I also really love the color and shade selection they chose to include. Big win on this one! In case you missed it, you can find more information about this in my full review and an example of how to wear this in my previous tutorial.

~The Beauty Crop #GRLPWR Liquid Lipstick (Date Night)~ I didn’t get to use this product because the one that I received had already been open. As you might have seen in my unboxing post, there was dried product around the top of the tube. They did send me a replacement in this month’s box, so I’ll be testing it this month instead.

Although I did really enjoy the Tarte palette and the brush set in last month’s box, I’m still pretty disappointed in Boxycharm. Their customer service seems to just be going downhill the more popular they get. I’m tired of getting lip products in every single box (including this one) and I think they would’ve figured out a way to prevent including repeat items in boxes by now. Hopefully they’ll get it together soon because I’m not trying to recommend something that I’m not fully pleased with myself.

The first item in this month’s box is by the brand Briogeo and is their Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning mask. I’ve tried a few products from this brand before and although I know many people like them, I haven’t been as impressed. I’m pretty sure I had gotten this product in an ipsy when I was subscribed to them and I didn’t like it, but I’ll give it another shot. It does smell like sunscreen, which I’ve said about their products before. This must be a travel size because it only contains 2 oz of product and retails at $20, whereas their full size is 8 oz for $36.

Briogeo is more of a natural brand and make their products with no sulfates, parabens, silicones, phthalates, artificial colors, or DEA. This specific formula is said to be 98% derived from natural ingredients. It includes avocado, sweet almond oil, argan oil, and vitamins B5 and biotin to enhance shine, restore hydration, repair hair damage, and reduce breakage. You’re supposed to use this at least once a week, leaving it in for 10 minutes after shampooing.

I’m very surprised by these next two items that were included in the box. We’ve seen bareMinerals featured in Boxycharm before, but this Perfecting Face brush seems to be a more popular item right now. I didn’t expect Boxycharm to put such a hot new item in the box! This brush retails for $28 and what makes it so unique is that there is a little divet in the center of the brush.

You’re supposed to put the foundation in the fluid reservoir of the brush and then blend in circular motions around the face. They claim that this new style will help you adjust your foundation coverage to get a perfectly seamless foundation application. Looking at it, that just makes me think it will get the brush dirty much faster. I’m actually really interested to see whether this works or not.

The next product is by Mac and I’m so surprised about it because I can’t remember whether or not I’ve seen them included in Boxycharm before. I didn’t think Mac would be up for such partnerships, but I’m happy to see that they are (at least for this box, anyway). This is their Eyebrow Pencil ($18) in the shade Spiked. Although it looks like a retractable pencil, I can’t seem to twist it back down so I’ll have to be very careful with how much product I open out of it. I like how skinny the pencil is and the shade that I received looks like it will be a very good match for me. After swatching, it does seem to have a more dry formula so I’m interested to see how much work this will require during application.

The fourth item in the box is by StudioMakeup, which is a brand that I’ve found myself loving more and more every time I try a new product of theirs. This is their Luminous Loose Blush, which includes .24 oz of product for $35. That seems like a very high price for a blush! The packaging is very simple, as with most of their products, and I’m so happy to see that they included something in the packaging to control how much product you want to release. That should be a requirement on all loose powder products!

It does have glitter in it, which I’m not super happy about especially because it’s chunky glitter rather than just having a pretty sheen. However, the color is stunning and definitely something I can see myself using. Hopefully the glitter won’t be noticeable once it’s blended out and I apply a finishing powder on top. I’m really picky about my blushes and face products having talc, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to find an ingredients list for this product anywhere.

Another brand that I’ve been enjoying lately is Pür Cosmetics, which we seem to be getting a lot of in our boxes recently. I only have one eyeshadow palette from them and I absolutely love the quality of it. I’ve been wanting more, so I was super duper excited to see this Soirée Diaries palette ($34) included this month. You can immediately see how stunning the packaging is with its marble cover and rose gold accents. That has to be one of the most common combinations there is of anything right now. Its feels very high-quality and sturdy to protect the eyeshadows.

This palette is almost completely full of all warm-toned shades, which have been a new found love for me right now. There are twelve eyeshadows included in this palette with eight of them being completely matte and the last four completely shimmers. These feel so smooth to the touch, I can’t wait to see how they blend out on the eye and what kind of looks I can create with this. I will be posting a full review of this palette once I get to use it more, so for now I only swatched four shades to give you an idea of the pigmentation. They also included a coupon code in the box, you can apply BOXYSEPT in your cart at checkout on the Pür Cosmetics website to receive 25% off of your order until October 15th.

We received six products this month! Can you believe it?! The last product in the box is a Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in the shade Little Stitious. These are very affordable at only $6, but they do include less product than some of their popular competitors. I’m not gonna lie, this one got a huge eye roll when I first took it out of the box. I’m so tired of seeing lip products in these boxes, I want more variety! However, I am really glad to see that it’s at least a satin lip product this time rather than the matte lippies that we’ve been getting. My lips can’t take the mattes anymore! Thankfully this is a color that I can see myself wearing and I’m also imagining how beautiful this would look paired with a slightly darker lip pencil to create a soft ombré effect.

The last few boxes haven’t really impressed me very much, but they seem to be trying to make it up with this one. Although one of the products is more affordable (ColourPop) and another one isn’t full size, I’m still excited we get six different items to try out this month. The total value is still insane coming in at $141! Aside from the deep conditioner that I’m a little concerned about, I’m really happy and anxious to try all of these items. It’s been quite awhile since I’ve been able to say that!

~Mani Monday~
This color totally screams Easter to me and although we just had the first official day of Fall, that didn’t really matter to me because this polish is new to my collection and I had to try it out! It’s from Wet n Wild and the color is called Tickled Pink. If I remember correctly, Wet n Wild does have pretty good quality nail polishes. It did take me two coats to get the color this opaque and I had to be extremely careful because it did get streaky very easily during application. I really like the way it looks and hope it lasts all week!
