Milani Rose Butter Lip Mask Review

Something new that I experienced this Winter was chapped lips. It didn’t matter how much oil or lip balm I used, every day was a battle to prevent any more cracking of the dry skin. I tried everything I could think of and through all of my research in trying to find a solution, I learned to stay away from anything that was petroleum based and instead look for products that included Hyaluronic Acid. Luckily for me, Milani had just released their new Rose Butter Lip Mask and it seemed to be exactly what I needed.
It comes beautifully packaged in a clear plastic container with a rose gold lid and gold lettering on the front. It retails for $10 and comes with .24 oz of product. What drew me to this over other lip balms and masks is its nourishing ingredients. It’s made of a Hydration Butter Complex, which includes Shea Butter and Cupuacu Butter that work to smooth, nourish, and hydrate the lips overnight.

Hyaluronic Acid is specifically what I was looking for in a lip treatment. Most lip balms are petroleum based, which doesn’t actually provide any hydration. Petroleum just creates a barrier over the skin to protect it, whereas Hyaluronic Acid is more of a moisture magnet and helps defend against hydration loss.
Although it looks pink in the container, it’s mostly clear when applied to the lips. It’s very shiny and makes the lips look plump and juicy. The consistency is a little thicker than my old favorite Smith’s Rosebud Salve, but it still feels comfortable and smooth. I typically apply this right before bed and I do think it lasts pretty well throughout the night.
Since I’ve been using this lip butter, I have noticed my lips looking and feeling healthier than before. The rose scent isn’t too strong, but I wouldn’t recommend licking your lips very often when wearing this because the taste is kind of unpleasant.

As far as drugstore products go, I think the price is a little steep for the amount of lip butter included in the container. However, it does work well and it’s still priced more affordably than high-end lip masks. I don’t know that it’s my new favorite lip treatment, but it is one I do enjoy and would recommend.
