Derma E Anti-Acne Review
Acne was such a struggle for me during my teenage years! Thankfully, it has cleared up as I’ve gotten older but there are a few moments that my skin doesn’t want to cooperate. After clearing my acne, I’ve switched to a much more gentle skincare routine. However, I still like to keep a few acne products on hand for any special emergencies. During my latest breakout, I tried the Anti Acne Kit from Derma E and I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly it cleared my skin.
The kit is sold as a three step system with mini sizes from their Anti-Acne Collection. The first step is the Acne Deep Pore Cleansing Wash. The full size of this includes 6 fl oz and retails for $15.50. This cleanser is meant to remove built-up oil and environmental debris to unclog pores and prevent breakouts. It is a Salicylic Acid based wash, but also includes the Derma E signature Anti-Blemish Complex which includes Tea Tree Oil, Willow Bark Extract, Lavender, and Chamomile.
I enjoyed this cleanser because it left my face feeling clean without leaving behind any soapy residue. However, it has a very thin consistency so I felt like I had to use a lot of product to get the job done while also being careful to not let any spill out of the palm of my hand.
Traditionally, a toner would be part two of a three-step skincare system. I’m not sure why they didn’t include one in this kit, so that’s something that would need to be purchased separately. This Anti-Blemish Clarifying Bi-Phase Toner comes with 1.7 fl oz and retails for $13.95. It is meant to deeply penetrate the skin to remove excess oil, reduce redness, and balance the skin’s moisture levels after cleansing. It’s key ingredients include Tea Tree Oil, Vitamin E, Rose Water, Aloe Vera, and Cucumber.
The glass bottle makes this toner feel very luxurious, but I wish they would’ve done something to prevent the mess this makes when putting the product onto a cotton ball. Since its ingredients require shaking before application, there’s nothing stopping the liquid from splashing into the lid which floods the outside of the bottle when opened. Aside from the packaging, the actual formula feels very refreshing on the skin and absorbs quickly.
The actual “second” step included in the kit is the Acne Blemish Control Treatment Serum. The full size of this comes with 2 fl oz and retails for $16.99. The purpose of this serum is to fight against blackheads, breakouts, and cystic acne. Its two main ingredients are Salicylic Acid and the Anti-Blemish Complex, just like the cleanser.
Serums aren’t something I usually include in my skincare routines, but I made sure to apply this one both morning and night to really see what it can do to clear my skin as fast as possible. Its lightweight consistency was very much appreciated because it didn’t leave my skin feeling heavy. It does get a little tacky while it dries, but that goes away in about a minute or two.
The third step in this kit is very confusing and one that I have no experience with. There are differing instructions on how to use this Acne Rebalancing Cream and I wasn’t really sure what to do with it. The directions on the physical product tube say to apply a thin layer and rinse thoroughly, but it seems to be marketed as a leave-on moisturizer which is what the directions are on the full size packaging. I tried reaching out to Derma E’s customer service for some clarification, but never received a response.
