Pop Beauty Lightshow Palette Review
The beauty industry is so saturated with new brands and products everyday, it’s almost impossible to keep up! There’s no wonder I hadn’t heard of Pop Beauty before. I was recently surprised with a package of theirs and was immediately intrigued by the unique designs included in this Lightshow eyeshadow palette. Between the different textures, colors, formulas, and packaging there was so much for me to discover about this new brand!
There are a few different shade selections of the Lightshow palettes and the one I have is called Dusk Deluxe. These retail on the Pop Beauty brand website for $14 each. The plastic packaging does feel very cheap and loose, but I like the clear top that shows all the colors in the palette. There is no applicator included and there are no shade names available on the front or back of the packaging.
Out of the twelve shades in the palette, only one is matte, four have a satin finish, four are shimmers, and there are three pressed glitters. In the swatch picture below, there are some clear differences in the pigmentation of each shadow. Shades 1 and 8 are barely visible. Shades 5, 6, and 9 are also very light in color. Most of the shimmers (shades 2, 10, 11) are packed with pigment and have a buttery soft consistency. The glitters seem like a fun idea, but are actually pretty patchy and difficult to work with.
While I’m not a fan of the packaging or the inconsistencies in the formula, I did find the powder shadows easy to blend and I was pretty happy with the look I created in my recent tutorial. The bright colors aren’t something I’d reach for very often and it is missing a few shades to complete an entire look on its own, such as a transition color and eyeliner option.
Overall, this palette wasn’t too bad. The color selection might be great for some people, but I’d prefer more neutrals. The shadows last well on the eyes and don’t muddle together when applied over a primer. I’d be more interested in their “Basic” palette, but would also like to see the products more readily available in stores rather than being brand website exclusive.
