April Boxycharm Unboxing

I was so worried this month with my Boxycharm. I had no idea when I was going to get it because we were going on the middle of the month and I still hadn’t even received my Boxycharm tracking email yet. And then you know what happened? It just showed up in my mailbox out of nowhere! It was a very pleasant surprise, but I still like to receive tracking numbers! Either way, here we are now with the box and I can’t wait to show you what’s inside. If you’re unfamiliar with Boxycharm, they are a $21 monthly subscription service that delivers 4-5 full-size beauty products. To sign up or find out more information, click here. As usual, I’ll be catching you up and reviewing last month’s products first before moving into this month’s items.

~Clark’s Botanicals Anti-Puff Eye Cream~ I really like the texture of this and the way it feels underneath the eye area. It’s very smooth and hydrating, but I can’t say that I’ve seen any significant difference in wrinkles or puffiness. I wouldn’t recommend purchasing it because of the price, but I am happy it was included in the box as a luxurious item.

~Catherine Malandrino Style de Paris travel sprayer~ Honestly, I haven’t even reached for this perfume once at all this month. I wasn’t really impressed with the scent of it when opening last month’s box. It’s not horrible by any means, just not something I would typically wear. I tend to prefer sweeter, more fresh sprays and this one smells a little heavy.

~Luxie 512 Small Contouring brush~ Luxie has great brushes that are very high quality and super soft. None of them have ever shed on me and they have beautiful colors. I do use this brush every so often, but I haven’t figured out my favorite use for it just yet. I typically reach for it for various blending around the face or setting powder under the eyes. It’s a nice brush to have, but not something I can’t live without.

~Chella Eyebrow Color (Tantalizing Taupe)~ I realllyyy love this eyebrow pencil. The small point that it has makes it very easy to be precise, especially if you don’t have the thickest of eyebrows (like me). I don’t see any red undertones in the color, which is a huge factor. And the actual texture of the pencil is really creamy. I don’t have any issues with it fading and it can really help intensify the outer half of the eyebrow.

~Makeup Geek Eyeshadows (Cosmopolitan & Cocoa Bear)~ Makeup Geek shadows have easily become some of my absolute favorite eyeshadows ever, so of course I already knew I loved these two the moment I saw them laying in the box. I even posted a full review of the brand last week, you can find that here. Cosmopolitan is a beautiful rose gold for all over the lid, or pairing it with browns (like Cocoa Bear) and using it in the crease.

I was pretty impressed with last month’s box, especially the Makeup Geek shadows and the Chella eyebrow pencil. This month, the theme is Cloudy with a Chance of Charms. That’s so cute and definitely appropriate for this rainy time of the year. I’m really happy that they included the descriptions and prices on the back side of the card again, though. I really missed it last month and honestly, that was the first thing I looked for!!

The biggest item in this month’s box is a hand cream from Anderson Lilley. I’ve never heard of this brand before, and the title on the packaging is a little confusing but I think the actual name of the cream is called Manhattan Beach Beach Butter Hand Cream. You get 20 oz of product and it retails for $24. That seems a little pricey for a hand cream. The scent has a blend of bergamot, citrus, white jasmine, and musk. It kind of reminds me of a typical soap you’d use in a public restroom. I do love hand creams, though, and use them every night before I go to sleep, so we’ll see what it can do.

We’ve gotten an eye cream from the PÅ«r~lisse brand before and while I didn’t exactly see the results I wanted, it was one of the most luxurious feeling products I’ve used. This month, they included the PÅ«r~lisse Daily Lip Nourisher. It is a full-size product at .38 oz and retails for $16. It’s infused with mango and shea butter, jojoba and rice oil, and vitamin E to hydrate lips and seal in moisture. I really like that it’s made without petroleum and that it doesn’t have a smell. Along with nightly hand cream, I also apply lip balm before bed and I look forward to testing this one out!

Ofra has also been in our Boxycharms a few times and I’ve liked everything I’ve tried from their brand so far. This month, I received one of their Long Lasting Liquid Lipsticks ($20) in the shade Pasadena. While the color is absolutely amazing and something I definitely see me wearing, one of the first concerns I had was the size. It looked significantly smaller than the liquid lipstick we had previously received from them, but the label still says it contains .27 oz of product. I do, however, really like this shiny silver packaging rather than the older matte black.

The next item in the box is the Blinc Cosmetics Black Lash Primer ($26). We’ve also received another mascara from this brand before, but I haven’t tried it yet since I’m still working my way through seven other mascaras that I currently have open. This primer claims to provide the volume while the wand creates the length. It says to apply mascara immediately over top of the primer, which is much different than the usual waiting time. I do really like that it’s a black primer, though, rather than having the white fibers. Although I already have more than enough mascaras open at the moment, I’m really excited to see how this performs.

The last item in the box is a loose eyeshadow from Your Minerals, another brand I’ve never heard of before. I’m not so sure how I feel about this because loose shadows are a pain to work with. The color I have is Brown Hypnotic. It retails for $21 and is made completely of minerals, which I thought was really interesting. It has a ton of shimmery glitter in it with lots of brown, silver, and purple tones. If I can find a way to not totally make a mess with this, I think it’ll be a gorgeous color to pair many different shadows with.

I’m really happy with this month’s box. One of my biggest complaints when I was subscribed to ipsy was that I got a lip product in every single bag (not my favorite makeup item) and didn’t feel like it was truly customized to the quiz they have you take. Boxycharm doesn’t have a quiz like that and I’ve always been so happy with the products I received, not to mention the insane value you’re getting. This month’s products totalled up to $107, which isn’t their most impressive value but I am very pleased with what I received. Let me know in the comments what your thoughts are on this month’s box and what your favorite subscription service is!

I’ve been so much into the bright colors lately, that I decided to take a break and go for something a little softer. Looking at my Pinterest over the weekend, I was really liking the natural pinks. Sally Hansen’s Shell We Dance is one of my favorites that I have in my collection. It’s a beautiful color that only took two coats. However, the formula has the shortest wear time ever. Every time I use this polish, it starts bubbling underneath and chipping off within the first three days. It’s a good thing it’s so pretty!
