Revolution x Emily The Needs Palette Review

This is the first time I’ve ever written a review of a product and not known exactly where to start. There are no words to describe how proud I am to see this palette physically sitting on my desk. EmilyNoel83 was one of the first beauty Youtubers that I ever watched way back in 2012. She’s never done a collaboration like this before, but she’s more than deserving of this and so much more. There aren’t enough kind words I can say about Emily and the honest woman that she is. She’s always been such a wonderful role model for the beauty community. The amount of knowledge and inspiration that I’ve gained from her videos is immeasurable. So to finally be able to hold a product that she helped create is just a dream come true.

This collaboration is with Makeup Revolution and the collection is called The Emily Edit. Within that are two palettes, a face palette called The Needs and an eyeshadow palette called The Wants. Emily did an amazing job in her announcement video describing the creation process. I highly recommend you watch that video, if you haven’t already, to truly understand what this is all about.
I love the title of each of the palettes because it makes so much sense. The Needs face palette that I’ll be focusing on in this review has every face powder in it that you would need to create a look from start to finish. It’s incredibly affordable at only $15 and can be found at Ulta stores or on the Makeup Revolution website. Neither of the palettes come with an applicator, which I actually prefer. It’s set in sturdy plastic packaging with a huge mirror on the inside. The size of this mirror is seriously so exciting!
The face products included in this palette are a bronzer, a blush, a highlighter, and a face powder. The names of those, which are all conveniently placed directly next to the pans, are: Courage, Joy, Gratitude, and Kindness. All of the products in this palette are powders that already existed across the Makeup Revolution line and Emily combined them all into one.

I think she did an amazing job with the shades she selected. The face powder is incredibly versatile for all areas of the face, and eyes. The bronzer and the blush are both very pigmented, but can also be applied with a light hand to work for a variety of different skin tones. The highlighter is perfect for everyday wear and provides such a beautiful, natural glow to the skin.
There are also six eyeshadows included in this palette, all of which are completely matte with the exception of one that has a few sparkles of glitter. The shades shown in the swatch picture below are: Honesty, Passion, Peace, Faith, Hope, and Love. I love the all the warm-tones and that she threw in a pink. Pink isn’t a shade I would’ve used very much of, but it compliments these other shades beautifully. I also appreciate that there are two browns and two creams. The purple shade typically gets used as eyeliner and I love the way it matches my eyes. All of these shadows are super pigmented and the formula blends effortlessly.
Before this collaboration, I had never tried any Makeup Revolution products. I wanted to, I just didn’t know where to start. This palette is great for that! Because Emily chose shades from across their line, you really can get a good idea of the quality that this brand has to offer. I am so impressed with how smooth and pigmented all of these powders are. They apply so easily and having everything I need all in one palette really does make my routine go a lot faster.

Even though this is a basics palette and you’d typically look at it just thinking of a few different ways the shades can be used, it’s actually a lot more versatile than you might think. The shades in this palette can create anything from a soft, daytime look all the way to a more intense Fall eye with those warm browns and pink. The face powders can also be used as eyeshadows and visa versa. The options are endless and I can’t recommend this palette enough!

After trying four polishes from the Essence gel line and absolutely loving them, I’ve had my eye on their Out of Space Stories collection for a while. The white one caught my attention the most because white is one of my favorite nail colors ever and I thought the pearlescent finish would create a beautiful opal-like effect. This specific shade is called Outta Space is the Place. A lot of shades like this tend to be a little more sheer, so I was happy to see that this one is very opaque. The only thing I’d change about it is the brush. I'd much prefer a curved brush like the one in their gel polishes.
What’s on your nails this week?
