My Top 10 Best & Worst Posts

This weekend, on October 14th, Christina’s Chic Corner will be turning three years old!! Can you even believe that?? That means I’ve been blogging full-time for three whole years! I’ve published 464 posts and have come such a long way. I’ve talked a few times about how random it was for me to start this blog and that I had no idea what I was doing or getting myself into. I’ll go into that a little bit more in Monday’s post next week, but today I thought it would be fun to look back at my top 10 best and worst posts over the three years. I did this once for my first blogging anniversary and surprisingly, a lot of those original posts made the list again!

We’ll start with the top 10 best posts, counting down to the number one most viewed and the number one least viewed. For each of these lists, I didn’t include any special posts like birthdays and holidays, or any repeat topics such as any favorites posts or Boxycharm Unboxings. Just a warning: there’s 20 posts to run through quickly, so grab a snack and let’s get started!

10.) Ulta & Sephora Birthday Gifts 2018
This is the first year I had ever done a post specifically on this topic, rather than just including these products in a birthday haul. I had no idea it would go over so well, but here it is in the top 10 just a few months later!
I love when my tutorials make the list! They’re a lot of work to put together because there’s more pictures than in a review and more content to write, but I love creating them to show how products actually look on the eyes. I don’t do a lot of crazy looks and my technique is almost always the same. I’m not a makeup artist, I’m just keepin it real and relatable for everyday life.
I always speak the truth and I don’t shy away from giving a negative review of a product because I really do have a passion for giving honest feedback and hopefully saving others some money. But I always get nervous mentioning Morphe because they have such a cult following and some people are a little too sensitive when reading anything negative about the brand, or any of their partners. So, needless to say, I’m very happy this palette review made it into the top 10. Honestly, I haven’t even touched this palette in over a year...or more!
My very first tutorial! The butterflies in my stomach were so real the morning this post went live. I still didn’t know what I was doing or where to start in creating a blog post tutorial, but I knew it was something I wanted to do and just went for it. I’ve changed a few things in the production side since this tutorial was made, but a lot is still the same. There were many tutorials with very high statistics that almost made this list, so I must be doing something right!
This post was published before the Morphe palette review and probably has more views just because of the title. I do still like the brushes more than the palette, but there were quite a few that I had to throw away because of bristles falling out and I still wouldn’t recommend purchasing anything from them. The brand has only gotten worse since my review three years ago.
When the products from that post were sent to me, Profusion Cosmetics was almost unheard of. I had no idea who they were and didn’t like almost anything that I tried. Since then, they’ve really stepped up their quality while maintaining an affordable price range. There are a lot of products I enjoy from them now, although it’s still always a hit or miss.
I was confused when I wrote that review and I’m still a little confused three years later. There’s no way to tell the difference between the two curl creams in the store, so I knew a comparison review would be helpful. I just didn’t know how to go about it. One thing I’ve always struggled with as a blogger is photos, I have no imagination when it comes to photography!
Look at the picture below and you’ll understand what I mean about the photo struggle! What was I doing? I might not have known how to style photos, but I knew how to talk about makeup and that’s all that I thought really mattered. Clearly I was right because this post made it into the top three!
I have no idea how it happened, but the photo below blew up on Pinterest! It’s 2 ½ years old and it still gets pinned consistently. It wasn’t until this photo got so many pins that I realized how much traffic Pinterest can really bring. Everything’s always Instagram this, Twitter that, but Pinterest is basically the sole reason for this post making into the top two!
This was at the top of the list two years ago for my one year blogging anniversary and I kinda can’t believe that it is still my number one most viewed post. It seems so simple, but it must be something that’s Googled often. It’s a really good brush set at a very affordable price. I love both of these Sculpt & Blend brush sets and use them almost every time I do my makeup.
I was surprised to see so many repeats on the best list! Out of the 10, only four of them were “new.” Moving onto the top 10 worst posts, only three of them are repeats. I’m still undecided on whether that’s a good or bad thing...

One big misunderstanding about bloggers is how much money they make and what a sponsored post really is. I won’t go into it here, but just to put things into perspective: this Basic Invite review was my first sponsored post, which came 2 ½ years after I started my blog. Maybe this made this list because it’s only been posted for a few months and it’s not a common topic among my readers and the rest of my content. For this to gain any momentum, I’ll have to rely on Google searches and Pinterest.
I don’t remember really liking this palette, so I’m not very surprised that this made the list. Normally my reviews do pretty good, but I don’t think this was a much loved palette in general and probably didn’t draw a lot of attention. I honestly can’t even remember the last time I touched this palette.
This was only the second self tanning product that I had ever used and unfortunately, I wasn’t a fan of any of the three products I tried from this brand. I wanted to at least like something, but it was all too underwhelming. This was posted two years ago and I understand why I still don’t hear much about the brand.
This is a trick I actually learned from Kandee Johnson almost six years ago when I first discovered the beauty community. If it weren’t for this hack, my eyeliner wouldn’t last more than 2-3 hours! If you have oily eyelids or have a problem with eyeliner disappearing throughout the day, you really need to read this post.
Haul’s are fun to do because who doesn’t love getting new things?! It’s also a great way to show new products that are available or any good sales that are going on. With all hauls that I post, I like to follow up and provide updates on whether the products in my haul were good or bad. I feel like that’s even more important than the actual haul itself!

Unfortunately, though, I don’t think they’re that popular of posts. I’m not sure if the content just isn’t interesting to readers or if it’s because it might only be relevant for a certain period of time. These are the struggles bloggers constantly have to try to figure out.
This has to be one of the most disappointing blogs listed in this bottom 10. Most all of my Setting the Wedding posts made it on the list, but part 4 had just a few less views than the rest so that’s the only one I decided to include. This series was mainly just to document our wedding planning process so we’ll have something to look back on, and also acted as our “wedding website” rather than using The Knot or something like that.

Obviously this involved my wedding and very important changes in my life, which is why it’s so heartbreaking about it making the bottom 5. But I’m not a celebrity and this is mainly a beauty blog, so I guess I shouldn’t have expected much support for my personal life.
This post made it on my last worst posts list for my 1 year blogging anniversary. I blamed the title for it’s failure back then and that’s still why I believe it never did very well. There’s a lot of good information in that post about why talc isn’t healthy for your skin, but it’s not very commonly talked about and many people don’t even know what talc is so I’m sure it’s rarely ever getting searched online. It’s still there, though, for the few who do want to learn.
This has to be one of the most embarrassing posts I’ve ever written. I thought I had a good idea going, but I’m not very good at art (like, at all) so I should’ve known this was going to be a failure right from the beginning. This also acts as a double mention for my DIY and recipe posts. Neither of those ever do very well, which is why I only post them every now and then when I have something really good to share. Those are also two types of posts that I have a hard time taking photos for. I told you, I have no photography imagination!
This one’s a little sad just because the content in it is so good. I still use this organization method and it works very well for me. If I could figure out a way to improve the photos, I think I could try again at gaining some momentum for it on Pinterest. I feel like that’s the platform this post would be most appreciated.
Here we are, my number one least viewed post of all time. Honestly, I’m a little shocked. I’m not sure what I was expecting my worst post would be and I know gift guides aren’t the most commonly viewed, but something about this just surprises me so much. Out of the 10 items that I listed in that post, I’ve gifted my husband 7-8 of them in the past that he’s really enjoyed. So if you ever are in need of some good gift suggestions for men, there’s a lot of good ideas in that post. It’s not just for Valentine’s Day!
Oh man was that a long list! Last time I broke up my best and worst posts into two separate blogs, but this time I decided to combine them and not reserve an entire week’s worth of content for my blogging anniversary. Let me know which option you like better so I know for the future!

I was a little surprised by some of the posts in each of these lists, but others I already knew were going to make an appearance -- especially the repeats! One of the most difficult challenges as a blogger is trying to decide what will make or break a post and why one might succeed or fail compared to the others. Most of the time it’s just a guessing game, so the main conclusion I always come to is just to focus on topics I’m passionate about and write articles that I would like to read. I try my best not to focus on the rest because it can easily become too overwhelming. Although my blog is my brand and my job, it started as a hobby and it’s that same heart, passion, and honesty that will keep it going.

Thank you for reading, supporting, and following along in this journey with me! I hope y’all have a great weekend and I’ll see you on Monday with an official three year anniversary post! ♥
