May Boxycharm Unboxing
The April showers are gone, the May flowers are blooming, and my Boxycharm has arrived! Life is good. Seriously, it’s such an exciting day when I know my Boxycharm is out for delivery. I don’t allow myself to see any sneak peeks, which makes opening the box all the more fun. Let’s quickly review last month’s products before getting into this month’s new goodies.
~Luxie Brushes~ Luxie brushes are always nice to work with because the quality never disappoints. The only one I enjoyed the most out of this set was the large shader brush. I didn’t really have much use for the other two, but they are still very nice brushes.
~Artist Couture Diamond Glow Powder (Summer Haze)~ I thought this was really pretty, but I had absolutely zero use for it. Although it does have a twist cap over the sifter on the inside to block excess product coming out, it’s still extremely messy. It’s not something I’d put on my face and I don’t have a reason to put it on my body. It’s basically only pretty to look at in a swatch.
~Bodyography Eye Pencil (Bali Bronze)~ It’s not the creamiest eye pencil, but it gets the job done and hasn’t scratched my eyes yet. While the formula isn’t awful, I’m still not super duper thrilled about the color because it’s not something I’d use very often.
~PĂ¼r Cosmetics Festival Eyeshadow Palette~ The quality of this palette wasn’t everything I’m used to seeing from PĂ¼r Cosmetics, but it wasn’t the worst either. I was able to make some of the neutrals work pretty well, as you might have seen in my recent tutorial. The glitters are still a complete waste, though. I didn’t like those at all.
~Appeal Cosmetics Holographic Lip Gloss~ The packaging of this threw me off at first glance because it reminded me of my childhood play makeup, but the actual product is really nice. It’s comfortable to wear on the lips (not sticky at all) and adds a nice dimension layered over any lip color.
I didn’t find any new favorites from last month’s products. I just wasn’t that excited about them. Honestly, they sat on my desk until time started running out and I had to use them for review purposes. I’m hoping this month can make up for that! The theme is Make Waves, which I’m all about because I love being at the beach or on the water!

The first product in this month’s box is the GentleBubble Daily Conditioning Cleanser from GlamGlow. This is a full size product containing 5 oz and retailing at $28. I know GlamGlow is a pricey brand, but 5 oz is not very much considering most cleansers would be at least 8 oz.
They claim for this to be suited for all skin types with its vegan formula including oat amino acids that will condition the skin, as well as apple extract, vitamin E, and green tea extract for deep cleansing and removing impurities. It’s also supposed to be a foaming type of cleanser that is soap, fragrance, and SLS/SLES -free. That definitely has my attention and I can’t wait to see how this actually works!
Bodyography has been a popular brand with Boxycharm the last few months. The past products have all been pencils, and now we get to try some of their brushes. Both of these eye brushes are from their pro brush line and according to the included notecard, this set is worth $17.
These don’t have numbers and names on them, but they are labeled which makes it easier to reference. The Flat Shader brush is good for packing color onto the lid. I like that this one has a little bit of movement to it because that’ll also help blend the eyeshadow. The Angled Eyeliner brush can be used for precise lining across the lash line, which is what I like to do with eyeshadows, or it can be used to fill in the brows with a brow powder or pomade.
Alamar Cosmetics is a pretty new brand. I’ve tried their Reina del Caribe eyeshadow palette before, along with some of their brushes. For the most part, I was pretty impressed with the quality of the actual products so I’m really excited to try out their new Colorete Blush Trio. I have it in the Medium/Tan shade range. It comes with three blushes and retails for $22.
At first glance, I thought I saw a little bit of shimmer in the formula which had me worried. Thankfully, I don’t see any shimmer in the swatches. These are supposed to have a completely vegan formula without talc. I am sooo happy about that! I finally have a blush palette I can actually use without talc causing breakouts on my skin. I love blush and the color it can add to the face. This might be my favorite product so far!
CiatĂ© is a brand I’ve never tried anything from before, so I’m really excited to see one of their products included in this month’s box. This is their Eye Lustre Crème eyeshadow in the shade Cupid ($22). This is a metallic-glitter hybrid liquid eyeshadow that can be used on its own or blended out as an eyeshadow topper. Because of its liquid formula, it should also be mess-free with zero fallout.
This color looks like a pinky purple in the tube, but shifts to gold when hit by light from a different direction. The glitter in it is super fine and I can’t wait to see how this brightens the lids! In the swatch picture below, you can see the finish it gives after one swipe, as well as the glitter it provides when tapped in with the finger.
The last product in this month’s box is a lip gloss by Steve Laurant. I want to say I’ve heard of this brand before, but I’m not very familiar with it at all. The color I have is called Posh, which looks like a beautiful dusty rosey pink. This is supposed to be a gel-oil hybrid gloss that is one part balm, three parts silk. They claim that this will hydrate and soften the lips while also providing high shine and intense color.
The total value of all five of these products is $111! Boxycharm did an amazing job this month! I’m so excited about all of these products, which is a refreshing change from some of the disappointments in the last few boxes. I think I’m most excited about the talc-free blush trio and the lip gloss!
I hope you enjoyed this post! If you have any questions about any of the products I mentioned, please feel free to leave them for me in the comments below. Did you get this month’s Boxycharm? What products are you most excited about?
