April Boxycharm Unboxing
Now that’s what I call quality service. I received my April Boxycharm within the first ten days of the month! They must’ve figured out the issues they had last month because they seem to be on top of things now. I knew that last month’s delay was a rare occurrence, so I had hope that everything would be back in order soon. And it seems like it is! Let’s quickly review the products from last month’s box before getting into all the new goodies.
~Wander Beauty Lift Off Mask~ I don’t think this mask really did much of anything. It did leave my skin feeling nice and smooth, but it didn’t clear out my pores as much as I was expecting and it was kinda boring to peel off. I was expecting much more. I definitely don’t think this one is worth the price.
~Moda Brush Set~ I’ve always been impressed with Moda brushes in the past and these are no exception. The powder brush is actually my new favorite for blending out blush, and I ended up using the soft glow brush a lot more than I thought I would. For someone who doesn’t like a lot of highlight, that brush is perfect!
~Cover FX Perfector Face Palette~ I do really appreciate that the powder formula in this palette doesn’t include talc. I love that it’s such a multipurpose product (as shown in my recent tutorial) and the quality is really good. However, I don’t understand the glitter in the face powder and I thought the bronzer was a little too light, even for my pale complexion.
~Manna Kadar Bloom Volumizing Mascara~ I didn’t end up trying this mascara because I realized how many mascaras I currently have open. I need to work through those first and will provide updates to this when I do try it.
~Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick (Monaco)~ Although I’m still not a huge fan of the shimmer in this lippie, it did end up being a lot more wearable than I was expecting. Ofra has never had my favorite liquid lipstick formula, but I do think they changed something with this new packaging because it’s not as sticky feeling on the lips as before.
Although the mask was really disappointing, I still enjoyed testing all the products from last month's box -- minus the mascara, still can’t wait to try that one. The theme for the April box is Peace, Love, & Boxy. The notecard had a bunch of cacti on it and most of the products seem to be festival themed, so I can only assume this is in dedication to Coachella.

The first thing in this month’s box is a set of Luxie brushes. Luxie has been included in Boxycharm many times and they always have some of the cutest packaging on their brushes. This set is a $28 value and includes a small shader brush (#245), a large shader brush (#209), and a small contouring brush (#512).
The small shader brush would be great for packing color onto the lid. The large shader brush could be used for almost any area around the eye or contouring the nose. The small contouring brush is the perfect size for highlighting or precise contouring on the cheeks.
The next product is Diamond Glow Powder from Artist Couture in the shade Summer Haze. It comes with .16 oz and retails for $27. I remember receiving one of these powders in a box almost two years ago in the Illuminati shade. These are really soft powders, but they’re not my favorite just because they’re so messy and I don’t have much of a use for them in my normal routine. If you were to be going to a festival, though, this would be pretty to dust over your chest and shoulders.
We got a Bodyography lip pencil in our December box a few months ago. This month, we get to try one of their eye pencils ($14) and the shade I have is called Bali Bronze. It’s basically a shimmery gold eyeliner, which I’m not exactly sure I’d ever use. Maybe for a bronze Summer look? I’ll have to figure something out because it says it’s infused with coconut oil and that definitely has my interest.
I always get excited when I see a Pür Cosmetics product included in the box. This month it’s their Festival eyeshadow palette, which retails for $36 and comes with 12 eyeshadows. They’re technically calling these eyeshadows pressed pigments, but I don’t see any real difference between this and any other eyeshadow palette. It also came with a small sample size of their Get A Grip eyeshadow primer.
The first two things I noticed when I opened this palette are the colors and that it has the same cocoa powder scent that most of their products have. Although I’m seeing a lot of color, I’m also seeing a lot of bronzey browns that could get me the neutral eyeshadow look that I love.
The pigmentation of most of the shades seems pretty good so far, except the two glitter shades on the end are giving me a lot of worry. Based on my first swatch, I’m seeing these as a waste of two eyeshadows. It’s basically glitter suspended in a Vaseline-like consistency. They seem very hard to work with because every time I try to build up the glitter, it just ends up sticking to my finger instead.
The last product in this month’s box is a holographic lip gloss ($21) by the brand Appeal Cosmetics. I’ve never heard of this brand before and although it reminded me of something from my childhood play makeup, it is something I think I’d get a lot of use out of. I love clear glosses like this to layer over top of long wearing liquid lipsticks. I love the shine they give and how plump they make the lips look without actually wearing a plumping gloss. I can’t wait to try this one!
I have to say, I’m not as excited about this month’s box as I usually am. I think it’s because of that glow powder, an unusual eyeliner shade option, and the disappointing glitters in the eyeshadow palette. I’m hoping to at least find a favorite in that lip gloss! The total value for all these products is $126, which is $121 more than what the box costs. So even though I’m not excited about every single product, it’s still an amazing deal.
If you haven’t already, don’t forget to sign up for Boxycharm so you don’t miss next month’s box!
