New Years Tag

As we continue to make our way into 2018, one thing that has stayed on my mind is how I’m going to be able to make this year any better than 2017. Last year was the best year of my entire life. I did so many wonderful things, stayed super busy, and made some amazing memories. Today, I’m taking on the New Years Tag where I will not only be reflecting back on last year’s events and lessons, but also recognizing what I hope is to come in this next year.

1.) 3 Words to describe last year.
Magical, Romantic, Adventurous.

2.) What did you do last year that you’ve never done before?
So many things! How do I pick just one?? I was a bride last year, which I have never been before and that required me to do many things for the first time like wedding dress shopping, wedding planning, attending bridal showers, meeting with and booking vendors, the list goes on! Doing new things always makes me nervous, but the only thing I could ever think about was the end result of marrying my best friend.

3.) Did you travel anywhere memorable?
We went to Jamaica for our honeymoon, as you might have seen in my previous post. That was an amazing adventure! Neither of us had ever been to Jamaica before, but we absolutely fell in love with it. I’m dreaming of the day we can finally go back!!
4.) What did you learn last year?
This is kind of a sad answer, but since my year was mainly focused on the wedding, those memories are the first that come to mind. When you get married, you learn a lot about people in your life and unfortunately, the things you learn about people aren’t always what you wanted to learn. It’s a real eye-opener. We’ll just leave it at that.

5.) What was your most worn clothing item of last year?
I definitely have more tops to rotate around than I have bottoms, but I’d say it’s a tie between two different bottoms. I can’t just choose one because they’re worn for completely different reasons. The first would be yoga pants. I got these at JCPenney many, many years ago but I always wear them when I want to be comfortable, no matter what the occasion.

The second item is this pair of shorts from American Eagle. This is their Shortie Stretch style. Jacob actually picked them out for me a few years ago and as funny as it is, I didn’t like them when he first showed them to me. Now I wear them all the time (when it’s not freezing outside) and I always get compliments.
6.) What was your most used beauty product of last year?
I’m always switching up products in my makeup routine and trying new things, but I think the one item that I reached for the most all year long is the Garnier BB Cream. This was a new discovery early in the year and I absolutely love it. It always matches me very well, it has super amazing coverage, it feels like absolutely nothing on the skin, and looks flawless all day long. It’s the perfect product!
7.) What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Becoming a Mrs. to the most amazing man in the world! After five and a half years, we finally became a family! I’ve waited for that moment my entire life! It finally happened, and it could not have been more perfect. I knew Jacob was The One that day on the field trip and to now be married to him for the rest of our lives means the absolute world to me.
8.) What are you hoping for more of this coming year?
I’m hoping to make just as many amazing memories as I did last year. I doubt they’ll be as wonderful as those from the wedding, the honeymoon, and the planning, but I want to make an effort to keep challenging myself. I’m such a homebody, I need more stories in my life! And to get those stories, you have to make memories. I’d just like to keep those memories as positive and as amazing as possible.

9.) What are you hoping for less of this coming year?
I’d really like to have a lot less stress this year. I’m no longer planning a wedding, so I feel like this should be easy. Last year I wanted less drama and I did a really good job at accomplishing that. This year, I’d like to continue on that same path while also taking it easy on myself. Aside from life’s stresses, I always make lists for myself that are completely unachievable. I don’t know why I do that, but it needs to stop.

10.) What is your New Year’s resolution?
I don’t make New Year’s resolutions anymore. As a child, I thought it was fun even though it never lasted. I don’t like making resolutions that are more strict and that I feel like I have to follow every single day. So instead, I make goals -- things that I would like to accomplish, but that aren’t going to control my year and my thoughts.

I did a pretty good job last year of staying on top of my health and this year, I’m basically planning to do the same. Obviously, I’ll be putting a lot of effort into my blog and continuing to push its growth, but I also want to continue staying healthy by eating right, taking my vitamins regularly, and keeping up with my Pilates. I didn’t do so well eating healthy last year, but I did take the vitamins that my body needs and Pilates completely changed my life. I want more of that.
I look back at my memories in my birthday posts, but I’ve never done a reflection post like this that forced me to look at all aspects of my previous year. It was a lot of fun to realize how much I’ve grown and how much I’ve learned. I’m starting 2018 during one of the best moments of my life, and I have a really good feeling about how the rest of the year is going to go. ♥

If you enjoyed this post, I tag you to do it too! If you have a blog, come back and leave me your links so I can see your answers! How did 2017 treat you? What are you hoping for in 2018?
