Empties ~ January 2018
I don’t know what it was about the past few months, but I kept looking in my empties bin and thinking how it wasn’t very full. I guess I tend to run out of products at the same time and that just hasn’t happened much lately. But I still do have a few items to share with you, many of which have already been repurchased. Although there were a few products that weren’t my absolute favorite. Those are always so difficult to finish! Who wants to use up an entire product of something they don’t like? I certainly don’t, but I’m also not about to waste my money either.
Every now and then, I like to include some of my favorite supplements in my empties posts. I’m the farthest thing there is from a doctor, but I still like to share products that have helped me in hopes that they might be able to help you too! I have the worst stomach in the world and both of these items help get me through mealtime.
The first is acidophilus. I’m really really bad at taking the proper vitamins and supplements that my body needs, but I do notice a difference when I take these regularly. It helps me digest better after about a week of consistent use.
The second product is Lactaid. I was born lactose intolerant and it runs in my family. Mine comes and goes as it pleases, but has been particularly bad within the past few years. Thankfully, I discovered Lactaid pills a few months back. Now I can enjoy all my favorite dairy treats again! I always keep them with me!
Moving onto skincare, I ran out of another one of my favorite clay masks. I’ve talked about this Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay mask so much, I probably don’t even have to say another word about it. It is the world’s greatest miracle worker and has saved my skin. It’s the best $11 I will ever spend!
The Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads and Clinique Acne Solutions All Over Clearing Treatment have also been included many times on my blog before. These are two products that my skin absolutely loves! I have repurchased the Clinique lotion, but am currently testing out the night version of the Nip + Fab pads to see how they compare. I’ll keep you updated!
Y’all know I don’t buy into all the pyramid scheme type products like LipSense, LuLaRoe, Posh, ItWorks, etc. But when I was contacted by one of my longtime Instagram followers to try some Rodan + Fields products, something told me to just go ahead and give it a shot. So she sent me over a little sample pack of products and I could not believe how impressed I was with these items.
I tried the Redefine Daily Cleansing Mask, the Micro-Dermabrasion Paste, the Redefine Lip Renewing Serum, and the Redefine Night Renewing Serum. I really didn’t have very high hopes for these products at all, but my jaw dropped with every one that I tried. I couldn’t believe it! They are pricey and I obviously can’t speak for their long-term results, but I can tell you that they all felt very nice and left my skin extremely clean and smooth. If you are interested in trying any Rodan + Fields products, I definitely recommend getting in touch with Lisa Cullen. She will get you what you need!
These next two products shown below are always in my nighttime routine. The Smith’s Rosebud Salve is my favorite lip balm that I have ever tried. I love all of their lip balms and always switch up which flavors I get. Right now I’m working through the Minted Rosebud Salve. It’s so refreshing in the cooler months!
I’ve been using my DIY eyelash growth serum for about a year and a half now and I am so happy with the effects it has given. I could kick myself for not taking before and after pictures. It only takes three ingredients and a few seconds to apply before bed. My lashes have never looked so good!
The Maybelline Fit Me Concealer is my favorite concealer ever. It is so lightweight, provides amazing coverage, and lasts all day long. Most days, I skip foundation completely and just put this over my problem areas. The two shades shown below are Fair and Light. Fair is a little bit too light for my skintone, but Light matches me perfectly. Even with these two out of my drawer, I still currently have three tubes of this in different shades. It seriously is the best!
The only other two makeup products that I finished up are a NYX Nude Matte single eyeshadow in the shade Kiss the Day and a sample size of Benefit’s Porefessional Primer. I actually really do like this primer. I’ve had a few samples of it and have always been impressed with the results. It’s a little pricey for the full size, though, so I won’t be running out to purchase this right away. The eyeshadow is lighter than I wanted it to be and the pigmentation isn’t very good so this is one that I wouldn't recommend.
The last few items that I have to mention didn’t fit in any other category, so they can all just go together instead. I finally finished the Georgia Peach candle from Bath & Body Works that I mentioned I was loving a few months back. This is still one of my favorite candles that I’ve tried from them, but I won’t be purchasing it again any time soon. Their candles are a little much for what I’d like to pay, but maybe I’ll look into a lotion or body spray when this scent comes back around.
I also finished another bottle of nail polish remover and an essential oil, both of which came from Walmart. I’m not picky about nail polish removers, as long as they get the job done quickly, and I’ve already repurchased this same one. The essential oil is a grapefruit scent and although it does smell nice, it’s a little too strong for me so I most likely won’t be picking this one up again.
Compared to some of my previous empties posts, this one wasn’t actually bad at all. Maybe that means I should do them more often before they get too full like I always do. Aside from my typical favorites that I always repurchase like the lip balm and Clinique lotion, two of my favorite products that I used up were the candle and the Rodan + Fields products. Those were also the two that I was most surprised by!
