Dominique Cosmetics Celestial Thunder Palette Tutorial
There have been a few Dominique Cosmetics products included in some Boxycharm boxes lately and I’ve loved every single one of them. Their Lemonade lip gloss smells absolutely delicious and is so comfortable. I was a little concerned about the color selection in this Celestial Thunder palette, but the quality is amazing. The shadows are so pigmented, it’s been one of my most used palettes lately!
Starting off by priming the eyes, I used my favorite Milani eyeshadow primer. This is just a basic primer without any specific finish or undertone. It’s super affordable and perfect for oily eyes!
Starting off by priming the eyes, I used my favorite Milani eyeshadow primer. This is just a basic primer without any specific finish or undertone. It’s super affordable and perfect for oily eyes!
Once the primer has dried, I took the shade called Lunar Eclipse on a very loose bristled blending brush and gently placed that in my crease. I’m not kidding when I say these eyeshadows are insanely pigmented! I lightly dipped my brush in the shadow one time and still had to tap off the excess.
Next I took the shade called Storm Dust and packed that onto the outer third of my eye, gently buffing the excess up into the crease. Again, this shade is very intense so start with a light hand and add more as needed. Once I had the color applied, I went in with a separate, empty, loose-bristled blending brush to soften the look even more.
Perfect makeup looks are all about blending and going back and forth between shades, so if you feel like Lunar Eclipse got buried underneath Storm Dust don’t be afraid to take the extra few seconds to go back and add more where it was first applied. Having a gradient between shades makes all the difference!
At this point, the crease shades seem fine as they are but since the shade Zero Gravity is readily available in the palette, I decided to add a little bit of that right at the edge of where the other colors stop in the crease. It’s a very simple addition that brings so much extra dimension to the look.
Next, I combined a tiny amount of Storm Dust and Lunar Eclipse on a pencil brush and buffed that under my lower lashes. This will help tie everything together and prevent the look from appearing too top heavy.
To finish the upper lid, I brought in Ofra’s Rodeo Drive and applied that in the space that didn’t already have any color. This is technically a highlighter, but I love using it on the eyes. There aren’t any bright shades in the palette for what I like to wear and this is such a perfect option. It’s super pigmented and I love how the gold tones complement the warm orange shades in the crease.
Rodeo Drive provided the brightness I was looking for, but I also decided to add a little bit of Eternal Light directly on top. This shade was actually pretty disappointing because it was almost impossible to get the glitter from the pan to my eyelid and whatever didn’t stick to my eye fell all over the rest of the face. So while this was supposed to add a sparkly glitter the eye, it’s something I won’t be doing again.
For eyeliner, I applied a black pencil first halfway along both my upper and lower lash line. Then I used an angled eyeliner brush to apply the Black Matter eyeshadow directly on top. This shade does have some purple glitter in it, but it’s completely undetectable when applied in such a small, precise area.
Then it was time for lashes. I curled them twice and added two coats of my favorite Benefit Roller Lash mascara. I would’ve preferred to finish the eyes here, but decided to challenge myself by adding the Lilly Lashes in the style CEO that I also received in last month’s Boxycharm along with this palette. They were actually pretty easy to apply, but woahhh are they dramatic!
Here’s a close-up of the final look:
And a quick, more condensed guide for easy reference:
Those lashes are so intense you can even see how obviously fake they look at the base. I did have to add much more eyeliner to help the lashes blend in when my eyes were open, but they were still just too much for me. I finished the look by adding the Dose of Colors Matte Liquid Lipstick in the shade Flirty. This was another Boxycharm product and I was not only surprised by how well this shade matched with the rest of the look, but also by how comfortable this formula was!
Aside from the lashes and the glitter sprinkled over my face, I’m really happy with how this look turned out. I’m all about the warm-toned eyeshadows and I love the way these shades match with the gold shimmer of Rodeo Drive. Another win product from Dominique Cosmetics!
