Unexpected Makeup Finds #6

All of this cheerful Christmas spirit has helped me acknowledge how much I’ve been enjoying certain products recently. Sometimes I’ll get so caught up in a routine that I don’t actively think about and appreciate how wonderful a product may be. I created this Unexpected Makeup Finds series specifically to highlight those great products and as of lately, I’ve found five more to add to the list.
Exfoliating is one of the best feelings ever. It makes you feel so clean and when done to the face, it instantly creates a more smooth canvas for makeup application. I can be pretty picky when it comes to face scrubs because I want a deep exfoliation that’s really going to make a noticeable difference. The Pixi Peel & Polish is one of the best I’ve tried!

It smells absolutely amazing, like a fresh juicy papaya. I love it because it’s intense enough to get the job done, yet it’s not too rough that it’s going to irritate or cause any harm to the skin. It leaves the face feeling smooth for days! If you haven’t already, you can read my full review with more details here.
It’s not very often that I wear foundation anymore. I usually just apply concealer in my problem areas and that’s because I can’t stand the feeling (or look) of heavy makeup on my face. However, this new Physicians Formula Silk Foundation Elixir from their Organic Wear line is super comfortable. It’s so lightweight, it blends in effortlessly, and has great coverage. The shade Light/Medium matches me perfectly and I really appreciate the healthy ingredients they included in this formula.
Wet n Wild has always had one of my favorite eyeshadow formulas and I really appreciate how affordable they have stayed over the years. When I first saw this Rose in the Air palette, I wasn’t too interested in it because of the bright cranberry shades. But when realizing it’s almost a total dupe for a popular high-end palette, I knew I had to try it.

The quality was immediately impressive, but it wasn’t until my recent plum eyeshadow tutorial that I really appreciated all this palette has to offer. The color selection is wide enough to go in so many different directions, but the warm browns and purples are my two favorites!
Liquid lipsticks are by far my least favorite makeup product, right next to highlighter and fake lashes. If there ever is a time that I want to wear a long-wearing liquid lipstick, Pixi MatteLast Liquid Lips are the only option. While they do dry completely matte, they’re still very comfortable. My top two favorites are Really Rose and Evening Rose, although I have also added Real Red and Berry Boost to the rotation during the Fall and Winter months.
The last product I want to mention is the Eos stick lip balm. The one I have is called Pure & Free, which is unscented. These are my favorite for applying underneath lipsticks, lipgloss, etc to keep the lips moisturized. However, I’ve been dealing with some seriously chapped lips lately and these balms have been such a life saver. They’re not petroleum based, so they actually provide moisture to the lips and the stick shape makes it easy to re-apply throughout the day.
It’s always a beautiful thing when makeup and skincare products work the way they’re supposed to, but it’s even more exciting when they work better than expected. All of these products are favorites and I can’t recommend them enough, especially at their affordable drugstore prices!
