Dominique Cosmetics Celestial Thunder Palette Review
Dominique Cosmetics is a brand that I hadn’t even heard of until earlier this year. I fell in love with the scent and consistency of their Lemonade lip gloss, so I couldn’t help but have high hopes for their new Celestial Thunder eyeshadow palette. Thankfully, it’s been just as amazing as I was hoping it would be!
This palette came in my November Boxycharm and after searching for it elsewhere, it seems as though this might be a Boxycharm exclusive product. However, they do have a separate palette called Celestial Storm that includes all of these eight shades, plus four more.
This palette came in my November Boxycharm and after searching for it elsewhere, it seems as though this might be a Boxycharm exclusive product. However, they do have a separate palette called Celestial Storm that includes all of these eight shades, plus four more.
This palette comes in cardboard packaging that has a magnetic closure and a decent sized mirror. For being considered a high-end palette, I was expecting this to have a little more weight to it. It’s not very heavy or luxurious feeling at all. There are shade names on the inside of the palette underneath each color, which is very much appreciated.
The colors shown from left to right in the swatch picture below are: Eternal Light, Fireball, Black Matter, Zero Gravity, Lucid Dream, Storm Dust, Lunar Eclipse, and Mystic Ice. Out of the eight shades in the palette, two of them are shimmers (Fireball and Black Matter), one has a glitter finish (Eternal Light), and the rest are mattes.
Almost every shade swatches perfectly. The only one that causes some issues is Eternal Light. It’s the only glitter in the palette and nearly impossible to transport from the pan to the eye, as shown in my recent tutorial. That’s so disappointing because it was the single shadow I was most excited about.
Aside from Eternal Light being a complete dud, all of the other shadows are insanely pigmented and only require the tiniest amount of product to show up. They’re not the most buttery soft, creamy formula ever, but I don’t mind that because having a more dry consistency helps them last longer throughout the day.
I probably won’t get much use (if any) out of the bright pink and blue, and Eternal Light is so useless it might as well just be an empty pan. For those reasons, I don’t know that this palette is worth it. The other shades are great, but when considering a high-end product like this everything needs to be perfect.
