January Favorites

It’s that time again for me to choose my favorite products that I used throughout the month of January. I feel like I have a good amount of things to mention, but they’re more random than they’ve ever been before. I got a lot of new products over the holiday season and have been testing those out every time I get ready, so I don’t have too many makeup items that I’ve used consistently all month long. What I am going to talk about, though, has gotten much love since the start of the new year and these items all make me happy every time I use them. That’s when you know it’s good!

The first thing is this Panasonic Lumix camera my sweet boyfriend got me over the holidays. I’ve never had one of these fancy-pants looking cameras before and didn’t think I needed one until I realized how much better quality the pictures would be, specifically for blog posts. I’ve been trying to mess around with it a lot and figure everything out. I think I understand enough for how I use it basically on a daily basis, but there’s so much more! This will definitely be a favorite for a while!

The next two are the most random, I think. They didn’t fit in any other category, so I decided to group them together. What’s in the spray bottle is a DIY stone cleaner solution that I found online and have been absolutely obsessed with and amazed by every time I use it. All that’s in it is ¾ cup water, ¼ cup rubbing alcohol, 1 tbsp of dishwashing soap, and 10 drops of tea tree oil. It’s so incredibly easy to make and leaves our granite counters more shiny than they’ve ever been. I love it!! The coffee cup made an appearance on Instagram earlier this month and says “Chug It Like You Mean It.” I found it at Target on clearance after the holidays for around $2.50 and just couldn’t help myself. I thought it was so funny and it's been a great addition to my collection.

I’ve noticed for a while now that I have a lot of texture on my cheeks and I’m not sure exactly why it’s there or how to get rid of it. I could go days without a pimple, but I still wouldn’t be happy with how my skin looked. So I decided to change things up a little bit and have only been using my Clinique facewash (that I mentioned in my Acne Survival Kit post) in the mornings and use the Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser to remove my makeup and before bed. It’s more gentle on the skin and I really think it’s been helping a lot. I’ve also been using tea tree oil on my cheeks and on any pimples I have rather than other spot treatments that are made with more harsh chemicals. The smell isn’t my favorite, but it’s been getting the job done and that’s what matters.

I picked up the L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation at the beginning of the month and have been completely obsessed! This has been talked about so much lately and loved by so many people, and now I know exactly why. I do have to build it up a little bit, but the finish it gives and how it feels on the skin is what makes it so perfect. I like using the Maybelline Better Skin concealer with foundation because it has more sheer coverage and is more lightweight, so it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing as much product. I did a review comparing this and the Fit Me concealer, if you'd like to read more details you can find it here. In the swatch, the concealer is on top and foundation is on the bottom. I know they look completely different, but when blended out on the face it all comes together.
In my January Boxycharm Unboxing that I posted last week, I raved about the ncLA cuticle oil that I received in December’s Boxycharm and how much I had been loving it. It’s such a good moisturizing, yet fast-absorbing cuticle oil and the little dropper just brings me so much joy! The nail file is by the company Trim (which you can find at most drugstores) and it has seven different sides for filing, buffing, and shining. This replaced a 4-way nail file block that I previously had and I like this one a lot more because it has so many different options. These two have definitely made doing my nails much more fun that it already was!
I don’t usually have this many brushes to mention, but all four of these have been so exciting for me to use this last month that I had to include them all. From left to right is the Elf Blending brush, Target Complexion brush, Vasanti Flat Foundation brush, and the BH Cosmetics Pencil brush. I love the shape of the Elf brush. It is so soft and makes applying foundation easier than anything else. The Target Complexion brush is very affordable and my favorite for buffing in concealer.

The Vasanti brush has been great for applying my clay mask. I have two other flat foundation brushes that I alternate between and this one performs the best. I never used to smoke out my lower lash line with eyeshadow before because all the other brushes I had would make it too intense for the natural look I usually am for, but the BH Cosmetics pencil brush is just small enough to get the job done exactly how I want it. It’s definitely impressed me and has changed my application routine for the better.

I hauled this Ulta Rose Gold palette right after my birthday and while I’ve been jumping between testing products all month long, this one has caught my attention the most. I’m loving this shade range right now and this palette is getting it done! The quality of these shadows is amazing (as I’ve mentioned of Ulta eyeshadows before) and I love all the different looks I've been able to create with it so far. Definitely happy I finally picked it up!
Although the individual items I favorited this month were a little different, I can’t tell you enough how much I recommend each and every one of them! They’re all so great and have definitely started this year out on a good note. I’d love to hear what some of your favorites were this month and don't hesitate to let me know any questions or comments you have on anything that I mentioned. I hope you all have a super fun (or super relaxing) weekend! :)

Here’s a Friday Funny that I think almost everyone can relate to:
