Behind the Scenes: Blogging Tools

Blogging can be super simple as far as the materials that are required, or it can be super extravagant and fancy. Either way you go, it’s important to pay attention to what you’re doing and stay passionate about the content you’re putting out. However, in today’s blogging world, you basically have to strive to look like a pro in order to get noticed or followed. So how do you do that without going overboard while still keeping your sanity? I wanted to share with you some of my favorite tools I use to blog with and explain how they’ve helped keep stay organized while making my way into the blogging scene.

When I first started my blog, I took all of my pictures on my boyfriend’s iPhone 6. I didn’t want to invest in a fancy camera right out the gate and I really think the quality of iPhone pictures is greatly underestimated. However, as Christmas made its way around, I decided to ask for an upgraded camera. So my sweet boyfriend bought me the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ70 that I was eyeballing.

Getting used to the camera and all of the features took a lot of work and I’m still learning new things about it on a daily basis, but I have been so happy with its performance. It has 60X zoom, which makes it very easy to get detailed pictures of products. It comes with a rechargeable battery and has endless options as far as customizing pictures.

This next one seems pretty simple, but I definitely think is worth mentioning - a wireless mouse for the laptop. I use Logitech's M305 in purple. I’ve tried to move my work station to other places around the house such as the recliners, sofa, or bed when I’m just relaxing and editing posts. But I quickly learned that it was much more difficult to do without my handy dandy mouse and now I can’t be without it.

I have somewhat small hands, so this one is a perfect fit and is about as basic as it gets. I don’t like all the fancy mouses that are available and this one has never failed me. I can’t even think about how many years I’ve had this, but it’s never gotten used as much as when I started my blog. It’s a life saver! Especially when I’m trying to work quickly.

My laptop is obviously the most important because that’s where I edit pictures, posts, and actually publish my blog from. I’ve had the Lenovo Flex 2 15.6" laptop for about a year and a half now and I absolutely love it. It’s so simple to work with, it’s slim and convenient to carry with me, and the touchscreen makes life so much easier. It is able to flip into stand mode, but I honestly don’t use that feature very much. I just really like that the screen can turn backwards as much as I would like because it’s easy to see whether you’re sitting, standing, or lying down.

I’ve always had Dell laptops and never worked with a Lenovo before, but I definitely have been extremely happy with this one and would absolutely repurchase from them in the future. I know a lot of people really like Macs, especially for blogging. But I can never imagine leaving the PC world. #sorrynotsorry

Although I wouldn’t own a Mac computer, I do rely on my iPod daily. I don’t own a smartphone (surprise!), so I do most of my social media management on my iPod. It is a little small to work with, but it gets the job done for me and is definitely a necessity. It also has great quality pictures and is where all of my selfies and Mani Mondays come from (surprise again!). I do plan on upgrading eventually to something bigger. I’m thinking Amazon’s Fire HD 8 is my best option. But for now, I’m extremely happy with my little gold iPod.

If you are thinking about starting a blog or are just making your way into the blogging world, I really hope you found this helpful. If you’ve heard my story, you know I started my blog on a whim with no experience or research behind me and had a lot to learn. These tools have definitely made the job easier and I highly recommend every one of them. If you have any questions about anything I mentioned, please leave them for me in the comments. I’d love to help!

For my fellow bloggers, here’s a Friday Funny that you can surely relate to!
