Tarte Bronzer Review

I think we all know by this point that I am a total drugstore girl, especially when it comes to makeup. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that I don’t dream about trying high-end products. I just keep my patience until I can find them at a more affordable price. When I had accumulated enough points with ipsy, I cashed them in right before I cancelled my subscription so I could try the ever so famous Tarte Park Ave Princess bronzer that always seems to have such great reviews. Unfortunately, I’m not a fan.

Let’s start with the obvious - this packaging is adorable!! Mine is a sample size, so there’s no mirror inside. But the outer packaging is just precious. Another reason I wanted this in my collection! However, even with as cute as it is, the sample plastic packaging does seem a little cheap and not very sturdy at all. I was expecting more, even in sample packaging, from such a well-known high-end brand.

The actual color of this bronzer looks beautiful and I didn’t notice anything wrong with it. There are no orange undertones or anything that might make it look too unnatural. The texture of it seems fine, but I have felt more smooth products (such as Makeup Geek). One thing I do really appreciate about this product is that talc isn’t listed on the ingredients for it. Which means it’s good for me to wear as long as I want throughout the day without having to be concerned about breaking out.

The issue I had with this is the shimmer. I don’t want that on my oily skin because that will make it look unnatural. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t know they offered a matte version of this product and it wasn’t available on the ipsy website whenever I got this one. However, I have still tried other bronzers that have just a tiny bit of shimmer in them and been fine with the outcome. But this one was way too much for me to be able to work with.

I will say that there is a nice amount of product in this pan for it being a sample size. I am so sad that I wasn’t able to love this product as much as everyone else seems to. Had I have gotten the matte version from the beginning, I don’t think I’d have anything to complain about. But the shimmer in this just keeps me from ever reaching for it. Let me know in the comments what you think of this bronzer or if you’ve had the same experience as me!

~Mani Monday~
Since last week's mani was so simple and refreshing, I was craving something a little more bold this week. I wasn’t really feeling the bright colors, so I went with the Sinful Colors polish in Man Hunt. I think that name goes really well with this neutral green polish. This is one from their Sinful Shine collection, which I do like. I don’t notice any difference between this and polishes from their regular collection other than that it’s a bit thicker in consistency. But as far as wear time, it’s about the same - 6 days with a base and top coat.

What’s on your nails this week?
