Neutrogena Rapid Tone Repair Dark Spot Corrector Review

Just like eating healthy and working out, skincare is also a lifelong journey. Our skin changes all the time and we’re constantly having to adjust to new factors. Not only does our skin change with age, but it also changes with the weather and other environmental factors. Even though I’m only in my mid-20’s, my skin has gone through many changes over the years. Many characteristics have stayed the same and others have forced me to make changes in my skincare regimen, which is always a scary thing to do. When I have a system that I love, I really hate having to switch it up. Luckily, I’ve had really good experiences with Neutrogena retinol products in the past, so I wasn’t as concerned when switching to the Rapid Tone Repair Dark Spot Corrector.

Neutrogena has an entire line of retinol products, although the only one I’ve tried in the past is their Rapid Wrinkle Repair Night Moisturizer. I really did enjoy that product and noticed a significant difference in my skin, so I was interested in seeing how the Rapid Tone Repair lotion compared. As with most items in this line, it’s not the cheapest thing in the drugstore averaging around $18 for 1 oz of product. Thankfully, a little bit of this goes a very long way.
It does come in a squeeze tube, but it also has a pump to get the product out. I do think that’s an interesting aspect of it since it’s not something you see very often. However, I’m not sure how effective that’s going to be when I get closer to the end of the product. I can see that causing some issues and would almost just rather not have a pump to keep it simple. This product claims to instantly brighten the skin by diminishing the look of dark spots and discoloration with its highly concentrated Accelerated Retinol SA and Vitamin C ingredients. It says it will renew the look of skin, improving skin’s clarity, radiance, and smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.

Neutrogena’s Accelerated Retinol SA is a combination of Retinol SA, Glucose Complex, and Hyaluronic Acid. The Retinol SA is what works to renew the skin, diminish dark spots, and smooth wrinkles. Glucose Complex is a Retinol SA booster that accelerates skin’s surface activity to provide faster results, which they claim will be visible in just one week. The Hyaluronic Acid renews moisture to help hydrate, replenish, and rejuvenate the skin’s appearance.
The directions say to apply to clean skin daily, but they don’t specify whether it should only be used in the morning or at night. I apply this every night before bed to my cheeks and forehead. I have a few fine lines on my forehead from my constant facial expressions, but my cheeks are where I’m really looking to notice a difference. I’ve struggled with fixing acne scars for years. The last Neutrogena lotion I had was great for that, and I also think that this one did a nice job as well. It has an enjoyable fresh scent, it absorbs quickly into the skin, and doesn’t feel heavy at all. They even say it can be used as a primer under makeup, although I’ve never used it in that way.

Since finishing my last bottle of the Rapid Wrinkle Repair and switching to this Rapid Tone Repair, I haven’t noticed any of my scars start to reappear. I can’t say that I notice them fading even more with this product, though. I think this has really just helped to even out my skin tone more than anything else. So as far as considering the brightening claims, I definitely agree that it did its job.

Even though Spring has “officially” been here for two weeks, it really hasn’t feel like it. So I’m hoping that if I just keep wearing Spring colors then something magical might happen. Wishful thinking? The shade I’m wearing on my nails this week is Pistache by Ella + Mila. This is the only polish I have from that brand and I can’t necessarily say I’ll be purchasing any more. It’s a beautiful color, but is pretty streaky during application which can be a real pain.
What’s on your nails this week?
