What Is Dry Brushing?

Taking care of yourself is so important. I don’t mean treating yourself to fancy products or allowing a few cheat meals, I mean really taking care of yourself. Sure makeup is fun and can completely change the way you look and feel about yourself, but nothing can replace actual self care. I’ve talked about jade rollers and my favorite mask for those special quiet pamper nights, and now I want to introduce you to dry brushing. It’s a concept that’s been around for a while, but what does it actually mean?

Dry brushing means exactly what it sounds like it would mean -- brushing your dry skin. It’s a great way of detoxing your skin and there are so many benefits to doing so! Dry brushing increases your blood circulation which will help to reduce cellulite, it stimulates the lymphatic system, unclogs your pores, decongests the skin, and rejuvenates the nervous system which will help to stimulate the nerve endings. It also exfoliates off all of the dead skin cells, leaving you feeling super smooth.
The way you dry brush is by starting from the bottom of the body, working your way up toward the heart. You can dry brush your entire body by using small upward strokes, going over each area multiple times. It may feel a little rough at first, just make sure to use light pressure and you will feel so much more refreshed afterwards. It is recommended that you dry brush twice a day for best results, but I only do it once a day since it’s important to shower after brushing. It’s also very important to moisturize because it does provide such a nice exfoliation.

Dry brushes are available almost everywhere now and they’re very inexpensive. I found mine on Amazon for less than $5! For maintenance, just rinse with warm water and a little soap once a week. Leave it in a well ventilated area to dry completely in order to avoid mildew growth. Dry brushing only takes a few minutes out of the day and is a wonderful way to take care of your body. Try it for a month and see the difference yourself!

White nail polish got brought to my attention earlier last week and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since! I love my Sinful Colors polish in Snow Me White, but I decided to go with Coconut Milk by KL Polish this week instead. It’s a little bit more of a softer white and I had only worn it once before, so I wanted to try it again. It is really pretty, I just had to put in a little work to get the color to show up as much as I wanted it to.
What’s on your nails this week?
