April Boxycharm Unboxing

It’s the best time of the month, Boxycharm time!! I’m telling you, it really is like Christmas every month and I look forward to it so much! I do think surprises are the best when you don’t know it’s coming, but there’s still something so special about getting five new beauty products every month. Especially when you don’t know what they’re going to be! Clearly, I’m excited about it so let’s quickly review last month’s products before jumping into this month’s goodies.

~South Mane Under Eye Gels~ I loved that these are just gel and that they don’t have any paper on them because they’re so much more comfortable to wear. I left them on for 30 minutes each and do think they firmed and depuffed my under eye area. However, it almost felt like they were burning so I’m not sure that I’ll be purchasing these in the future.

~Vintage Cosmetics Smokey Eye Brush Set~ These are nice for the most part, but they weren’t my absolute favorite. I showed that the bristles were already falling out in my unboxing post, and that continued to be a problem. The ones that weren’t shedding were nice and soft, although white bristles make it difficult to tell how much product you’ve picked up.

~Pretty Vulgar Make Them Blush blush (Hush Blush)~ This was probably my favorite and most used product out of the March box. The blush color is absolutely beautiful, it’s super smooth, incredibly pigmented, and blends effortlessly onto the skin. I don’t like that it has talc, but I love everything else about it.

~Pür Cosmetics x Boxycharm Eyeshadow Palette~ It must’ve been pretty difficult to miss my thoughts on this palette based on this week’s review and tutorial. I’m still torn on how I feel about it. It’s a nice palette with okay quality, but I would’ve liked a bigger shade range and more consistency.

~Butter London Double Decker Mascara~ I didn’t get a chance to try this one out. It went straight into my backup bin because I currently have way too many other mascaras open at the moment. Once I work through those, I’ll surely post some updates on this one.

Last month’s products were fun to test out (minus the mascara), even though most of them didn’t make it to my favorites list. I enjoyed trying out so many different products, which is what this is all about and makes it more fun. The theme for this month’s box is Eye Candy and from the looks of the reference card, it seems as though they collaborated with five different influencers and included some of their favorites. I’m getting my hopes up already!
The first item in this month’s box is the Dr. Brandt Pores No More Vacuum Cleaner mask. This is a pore purifying mask that is targeted for oily/combination skin. It comes in a 1 fl oz bottle that retails for $47!! I’m all for splurging a little on your skincare, but that’s a bit much! This is only supposed to be left on the skin for 5-10 minutes and claims to unclog and tighten the look of pores while also reducing excess oil. It sounds like it’s exactly what my skin needs, and for the price, I’m expecting it to perform!
The next product is by Tarte, which is a brand I love receiving in the Boxycharm boxes because it’s a high-end brand and we all know that’s not part of my frequent purchases. This particular product is their Tarteist Pro Glow Liquid Highlighter and the shade I have is called Exposed. This has .56 oz of product and retails for $29. Again, a very pricey product for what it is. I don’t use highlighter very often because of my oily skin, so I’m not that excited about this one. Although, I do think the color is beautiful!
We’ve received a few products from The BrowGal is previous boxes and I’m pretty sure I’ve liked everything I’ve tried so far. This month, they included the Instatint Tinted Eyebrow Gel ($22) and the shade I received is Brown Hair 02. The packaging is very sleek, matching the rest of the products in their line. However, the side with the product in it is much smaller than the side with the wand attached. The wand is very small, though, which I definitely appreciate. This is one of those brow gels that have the microfibers in it to make the brows appear thicker. I’ve only tried one brow gel like that before and it was not a good experience, so I’m hoping for better results with this one.
If you’ve read my review about this brand, then I’m sure you can imagine my reaction when seeing this Semi-Precious eyeshadow palette in the box. I love eyeshadows, but Colourpop is a brand that I absolutely do not stand behind. I really disliked all of their powder products that I’ve tried in the past, so I’m sure it goes without saying that I never looked into trying their pressed eyeshadows when those were released.
My first two thoughts on this palette were how heavy it feels for how little it is and that there is no mirror on the inside. Colourpop is known for being more affordable, so that would make sense for there to be no mirror. Except that this palette is $26. That’s not a very expensive price either, but it doesn’t necessarily align with the rest of their prices so in this case I would expect a mirror to be included.

There are eight eyeshadows in this palette, all of which have a shimmer finish so I already know right off the bat that this won’t be a stand-alone type of product. I’ll definitely have to bring in other eyeshadows to create an entire look and this is more of an add-on than anything else. They do feel very soft and they swatch better than their Super Shock shadows, so I’ll do my best to put my previous opinions to the side and give this palette a fair try.
The last product in the box is by the brand Adesse. I think I’ve only tried one other item from this brand before, it’s definitely not one that’s talked about very much. The product included this month is their Hi Definition Liquid Lipstick ($24). I can’t find a name anywhere on the box or on the actual product, which was kind of annoying. This claims to be a creamy, long-wearing liquid lipstick with intense pigments and shine. I’m so thankful this is not another matte product!! It does feel pretty sticky in the swatch, so I’m hoping it doesn’t feel like that on the lips too.
I’m really excited to try all of the products this month (valued at $148!), even though I’m going in with some reservations about a few of them. These are supposed to be favorite products of other beauty influencers, so I’m hoping they come to impress and prove me wrong. I especially hope to love the liquid lipstick because the color is beautiful and I’m so happy it’s not matte!!
