Simple Everyday Eyeshadow Tutorial
Before we get into this, I want to thank y’all so much for the positive feedback on my last two tutorials. I was so nervous to start incorporating tutorials into the reviews. Even though it was something I am really passionate about and really wanted to do for a while, I didn’t know how to approach it or how it was going to be received. Now, those tutorials have become some of my blog posts that have had the best response the quickest and that makes me incredibly happy. So thank you, again. Today, I wanted to share with you what I’ve been doing lately when I only have a few errands to run and just want to get ready fast. I’ve been loving doing a super simple eye look using minimal products and just focusing on the basics.
This is going to be great if you’re just starting out with makeup, if you don’t like doing much color on the eyes, or if you just need something quick. I’m using all of my favorite items in this tutorial, including Wet n Wild’s single eyeshadow in Brulee, Ulta’s single eyeshadow in Naked, Wet n Wild’s five pan palette in Naked Truth, and Jordana’s Best Lash Extreme Volumizing mascara.
The first step that I already completed while doing the rest of my face was place concealer all over my eyelid to cancel out any discoloration and veins so I have a blank canvas to work with. Since this is something I like to do when I’m getting ready quickly, I also dusted my face powder over my eyelids as well to act as a base and to set the concealer.
I use Wet n Wild’s single eyeshadow in Brulee all over the eyelid. I like to apply it with my finger because it gives a more intense pigmentation faster than a brush. Since it’s a nude matte shadow, you can barely even tell it’s there. This helps to conceal any other darkness that may still being showing through the concealer and for only $1, the formula on this is amazing. After I’ve applied it with my finger, I use a Morphe M208 brush to make sure it’s all blended and there aren’t any lines.
Using the same Morphe brush and the same Wet n Wild shadow, I place that right along my lower lash line. Sometimes the concealer doesn’t make it all the way up there and some reddish purple tones will still be showing through. This is to conceal over that and help me look even more well-rested.
Taking a small smudge brush from the Sephora Professional Collection, I use Ulta’s Naked single eyeshadow on the very inner corner of my eyes. Since Brulee is a cream shade, the brighter white from Naked will add just the slightest dimension and really brighten everything up. Then I also take the Naked shade on the same Morphe brush I used earlier and apply it right underneath my brow bone to brighten that area as well.
Dipping into Wet n Wild's Naked Truth palette, I’m taking the darkest brown shade on an Ecotools angled eyeliner brush and applying it as close to the lashes as I can get. If I’m really trying to hurry, I’ll skip this step but it does add quite a bit of volume to the lashes once mascara is applied. I don’t have any other eyeliner on, I’m just using the shadow to get as close to the lashes as possible so it’s almost undetectable.
Then it’s on to mascara. Don’t forget to curl the lashes, it makes the biggest difference! Although I did skip heating up the lash curler to save time. Then I applied three coats of Jordana's Best Lash Extreme Volumizing mascara. For the first two coats, I wiggled the wand through the lashes to build volume and let it sit. Once it was a little tacky, I pulled the wand straight through once more to add some length. This is usually what I do when I’m in a rush and this mascara works really well for it. But be on the lookout for my regular mascara routine coming within the next two weeks!
And we’re finished, it’s as simple as that! Although there’s not much going on here to really “examine” the final product, here’s a more close up picture for good measure ;)

This is seriously what I have been doing most of the time recently and probably takes me no longer than 5 minutes from start to finish. My main focus is to brighten the eyes to look as well-rested and awake as possible, but also to make up for the lack of shadow by piling on the mascara. I usually pair this with simple face makeup focusing on my skin, some sparkly earrings to enhance the shine in my eyes, glasses, and a quick bun. It looks pulled together just enough and is great to get out the door fast on hot summer days.
