Unexpected Makeup Finds #4

Even though it’s just human nature to judge things upon first glance, I’m always open to trying new makeup products. There’s so much available on the market, you never know what you might find! This is the fourth post in my Unexpected Makeup Finds series and these products are exactly why I put initial judgement aside when it comes to makeup.

The Garnier BB Cream was my biggest unexpected makeup find for the longest time. I don’t remember exactly what got me to try this, but I was blown away after the first use. It has the thinnest consistency of any BB cream I’ve ever tried and lasts all day without breaking down. I use my fingers to blend it in because it has such a thin consistency, and it even provides more coverage than some foundations! Read my full review on it here.
Maybe it was the gaudy packaging or the fact that it includes talc that didn’t have me too excited about this Pretty Vulgar Bronzed B Bronzer. I have it in the shade Bronze Mannikin and I remember applying this the first time, not really expecting it to be any different than any other bronzer. I was so surprised to see how beautiful and natural this looks on the skin. The formula is one of the easiest to work with and the pigmentation is perfect.
I knew I loved the L’oreal Lash Paradise mascara, but I wasn’t exactly sure I was going to feel the same about the waterproof version. I’ve never really been a fan of waterproof mascaras in the past, so I didn’t think this would be any different. The formula is slightly more thin than the original, but it gives just as good of a result and lasts longer. This keeps a curl all day (even through long hours in humid weather -- aka at Disney World), it doesn’t flake off, or budge at all. It can be difficult to remove, but Lancome’s Bi-Facil Double-Action Eye Makeup Remover seems to do the trick.
Lip gloss is one of my favorite things, but I tend to be a little skeptical every time I try a new one. You never know if it’s going to be thick and sticky, or lightweight and comfortable. The Manna Kadar lip gloss is definitely one of the more comfortable formulas. The shade I have is called All of Me and back when I had the pink in my hair, I wore this all the time. I kinda forgot it in my drawer until now and I’ll definitely be using it more this Summer.
I had no idea what to expect the first time I tried these EMMA polishes. It was a brand I had never heard of before and I couldn’t find much information when trying to do some research online. Thankfully, I ended up loving them! The Stuck on You Base Coat and the Rock Hard Top Coat have been such a game changer for my manicures. They’ve worked great with every polish I’ve paired them with them. I don’t have as many issues with chipping as I used to and after seven days of wear, I really have to scrub the acetone in to be able to remove the polish.
All of these products have made my life so much easier and I can’t recommend them enough. The BB Cream also contains SPF 20, so it’s great for spending beautiful Summer days outside. I never imagined I’d find a waterproof mascara that performs so wonderful. It just goes to show why you should never settle on a product that doesn’t work, something better is always available.

I definitely wore an orange nail polish last week too, but it’s Summer so that’s an excuse to wear all the bright colors. This one is new to my collection. I believe the brand is called Fresh Paint and the color is Guava. I found it during my first ever trip to a Five Below store about a month ago and I just had to see what the quality was like. It’s a lot more neon in person, which I am absolutely loving. And I am so impressed by the formula! Normally colors like this are very streaky and difficult to apply, but the opacity of this polish is perfect!
What’s on your nails this week?
