August Boxycharm Unboxing

Holy cow, y’all! This month officially marks four years that I have been subscribed to Boxycharm! I haven’t ever regretted or second guessed my subscription and I still get just as excited every month now as I did when I first subscribed four years ago. It’s always such a good deal and I love getting a box full of surprise makeup! As always, let’s quickly review last month’s products before getting into all of the new goodies.

~Elemis Superfood Vital Veggie Mask~ This was just okay. It did leave my face feeling clean and smooth, I just don’t think it’s necessarily the right mask for me. I need something that’s really going to get into my pores and also help with breakouts. This was a little too gentle for that.

~Luxie Gaea 3 Piece Brush Set~ Luxie brushes are always great quality. These felt super soft and very well made. I did enjoy testing them out, but I don’t think I found any new favorites out of the set.

~Butter London Natural Goddess Palette~ I was really impressed with the quality of these eyeshadows. They didn’t have the most buttery formula ever, but they were very pigmented, easy to work with, and they stayed in place all day. As you might have seen in my recent tutorial, it can create an entire look even with its bright accent colors.

~Appeal Cosmetics Gel Liner (Forest Green)~ Pencil liners aren’t always my favorite, but this one did have a very smooth gel like consistency. It glided effortlessly along the lash line and was easy to smudge out with a brush. I also really liked the color. It gave a dark pop of color that was still flattering on the eyes and wearable for every day.

~Alamar Cosmetics Des-Nude-As Lip Gloss (Dulce)~ The formula of this gloss is really comfortable and I love the juicy effect it gives the lips. It is pretty pigmented, but I do need to apply a darker color underneath because this Dulce shade is a little light for my skintone and can make my lips look invisible.

Even though I didn’t necessarily find any new amazing favorites from my July box, I still enjoyed testing all of the products. The theme for this month’s box is Totally Boxycharm. Almost everything is pink and it all looks so cute!
The first product in this month’s box is from Briogeo. This is their Don’t Despair, Repair Strength + Moisture Leave-In Mask. The size included in the box is their travel size 2 oz bottle, which retails for $16. This product is supposed to repair and strengthen damaged hair, as well as enhance hair’s resiliency, shine, softness, and hydration. It has a 95% naturally derived formula including ingredients such as micro-encapsulated argan oil, B-Vitamins, Coconut Oil, Algae Extract, Panthenol, and Biotin.
Next is a product by Pür Cosmetics. This is Pink Glitter Brightening Peel-Off Mask ($26) they made in collaboration with Barbie in celebration of Barbie’s 60th anniversary. This mask is supposed to deep clean pores, exfoliate dead skin, and enhance skin’s radiance for a healthy looking glow. Some of its ingredients include 26 key botanicals, Licorice Extract, Green Tea, Vitamin B, and Ginseng. It also says it includes non-plastic glitter. I don’t know how much I’ll enjoy glitter in a face mask, but I’m willing to give it a shot.
Another skincare type of product is this Glow Ahead Illuminating Face Oil by Wander Beauty. It comes with .84 oz and retails for $42! This beauty elixir is supposed to instantly hydrate and absorb into the skin, revealing a bouncy, youthful complexion. They’re claiming that this lightweight formula will brighten, moisturize, and improve skin’s appearance over time with its Black Currant Seed Oil, Niacinamide, and other antioxidants.
This product has a spill-proof dropper, a lot like what we saw on the Touch in Sol No Poreblem Prime Essence that was included in June’s box. This design is supposed to provide more control by only allowing one drop to come out at a time. I’m actually surprised that the product came out pink, but I think it’s super cute. I’m not so sure about the glitter in it, though. I’m hoping foundation will cover that because shimmer is the last thing my oily skin needs!
Now for what is probably the most interesting product in the box. This is the Becca Hydra-Mist Set & Refresh Powder. This is a full size product, coming in at $39 for .35 oz. What makes this powder so unique is that it is made with 50% water! They claim for this to be a weightless powder that will set and refresh makeup for a silky smooth, invisible finish. It’s apparently supposed to have a mist-like sensation when applied to the skin. I can’t wait to see what that’s like!!
The last product in the box is that Tarte Big Ego mascara ($23). It has the brightest packaging I think I’ve ever seen on a mascara. It’s so fun! With as outgoing as the packaging is, the claims it has are actually pretty subtle. This is said to be an ultra-black, vegan mascara that will lift the lashes and deliver a “fully-loaded flutter” that lasts for up to 16 hours. The wand looks a lot like the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara and the L’oreal Lash Paradise. I’m interested to see how this compares!
The total value for all the products in this month’s box is $146! I think I’m mostly excited about the powder and the mascara. I love getting high-end mascaras in the box and the powder seems so unique. With the extremely hot and humid weather we’ve been having in Florida, I could use a cooling powder to refresh throughout the day!

I hope you enjoyed this post! If you have any questions, please feel free to leave them for me in the comments section. Did you get this month’s Boxycharm? What products are you most excited about?
