Empties ~ June 2017

It’s time to empty out the empties bin again! I’ve been making my way through some products recently! Or at least I’m trying to anyway. It’s been about three months since my last empties post and I’ve really been trying to clean things out. I’m not one of those people that just flies through products, though. It takes me a while to finish an entire product most of the time. From one of the items that I’ll be mentioning in this post, it has come to my attention that I clearly need to clean things out within my collection. That’s so hard to do!

Starting with body products first, I finished another one of the c.Booth 4-in-1 lotions. I used the Vanilla Butter scent over the Winter and loved it. This was my second one of the Vanilla Butter and I’ve already repurchased the Passion Fruit scent for Summer time. This 32 oz bottle usually lasts me an entire 6 months and I use it every single night when I get out of the shower. It’s the best! Definitely my most repurchased lotion ever.

Epsom salt has been such a wonderful discovery. I used to use the Dr. Teal’s that you can always find at Walmart and Target, but I found this small one for around 88 cents at Walmart and it’s just as good. I can add in my own scents or whatever bubbles I want while still having the soothing effects of the epsom salt. I currently have two in my closet for backup.

Can you tell we just got out of Spring? Both my fiancé and I got really sick with allergies this Spring, so Echinacea Goldenseal supplements were much needed. It’s something that I’ve been taught ever since I was little and although I still felt horrible for quite a while, taking them is still better than nothing.

My body has the hardest time holding onto iron, I don’t know what it is. I never knew that I had such a problem with it until a few years ago. I took my promise ring off to shower and I noticed my finger was black. The ring was 10K yellow gold, so I had no idea what it could be. Apparently it’s the way the metal reacts with your skin when you have low iron. I’m always cautious to not over do it when taking supplements because I’m pretty small, so I searched forever finding tablets that were only 28 mg. But unfortunately that wasn’t helping enough and I need to purchase the 60 mg tablets next.

I only used this small bottle of the Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion because it fit nicely in my drawer and it wasn’t a lotion that I used very much of. I actually bought the small size just to try, but it ended up lasting me quite a while. I did like it and how gentle it was on my face, although I did find it to be a little heavy feeling so next time I’ll look for one that’s specifically for oily skin.

I finally finished the Tatcha Soothing Silk Body Butter that I received in an Allure Beauty Box. This was too small of a container to use on my body, so I put it on my hands every night before bed and I loved it. The smell was really nice and relaxing. My only concern was that it was almost too silky. It was fine for a night treatment on my hands, but I can’t say whether I would’ve liked it for my entire body.

Clinique’s All Over Clearing Treatment has been my favorite face lotion for years and nothing has ever come close to it. It’s not as harsh as other products in their Acne Solutions line and it’s the most lightweight formula ever, which means makeup layers over it very well. It keeps my skin clear and I already bought another one the day I ran out. It’s a must have in my skincare routine!

I used up two eye creams. One I’m really sad about and the other one I couldn’t wait to throw away. The Garnier Skin Renew Anti-Puff Eye Roller took what seemed like forever to run out of product. That would’ve been a good thing if I would have actually liked the it, but I didn’t. The roller ball felt nice, I just don’t think it really did anything. Unlike the Lancôme Visionnaire Eye On Correction Balm, which was amazing! It really did smooth out the lines underneath my eyes...and yes, I have them. If I can ever pull myself to spend the money, I’d definitely buy it. It’s probably the only eye cream I’ve ever tried that made a visible difference.

For makeup items, I ran out of my Elf High Definition Powder and have already bought a replacement. They changed the packaging into a round container with a stopper on the inside to control the loose powder. I use this powder every day as my finishing powder and it makes my pores look almost invisible. I’ve repurchased so many of these, I can’t even imagine.

It was a really sad day when I had to put this It Cosmetics Universal Brow Power pencil in the empties bin. I wasn’t even done with it, but most of it broke off whenever I was applying my makeup one day. It was completely fine at first and then just broke out of nowhere. It’s still a good product though and I really enjoyed it. I have enough brow products in my drawer right now that I don’t need to repurchase this, but it’s definitely a possibility in the future.

I finished another tube of my favorite L’oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions mascara and already have a new one to replace it. I still can’t find these anywhere in store, so I’ve purchased the last four on Amazon. It’s much better than the original L’oreal Telescopic mascara. I’ve used it for years and it still impresses me every time I apply it.

I don’t have very nice lashes naturally, but thankfully my DIY eyelash growth serum has really helped. I’ve been using it for the past six months and this is the second tube that I’ve finished. I use it every night before bed and I’ve seen such a big difference. Of course I’ve already made more, plus some for family!

For nail care products, I’ve finished a bottle of nail polish remover. I do get the acetone one because I like that it has the strengthening properties to it, but I’m not picky when it comes to the brand. I just get whatever I can find in whatever store I happen to be in. It was also time to retire this nail file. This one was from Trim and had seven sides to it. I liked it while it lasted, but I didn’t repurchase it just because I felt like it wore down really quickly. I think this only lasted about a year and the paper is already coming off of it. I’ve never had to replace a nail file that fast before, so I went with a more sturdy 4-sided one instead.

I have a few nail polishes that needed to be thrown out. None of these are completely empty, but they’re way beyond the point of being able to be used. I’ve already mentioned in a previous post that the Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Hard As Wraps Hardener was no good, but the one in the clear bottle that’s a little pink is much better and what I use every week. The Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Diamond Flash top coat was pretty good as far as I can remember. It’s been awhile since I’ve used it, but I remember it drying somewhat quickly and providing a good amount of shine. I won’t repurchase it, though, because Seche Vite is still my favorite.

I hate that I’m forced to throw out the Sinful Colors nail polish in the shade Most Sinful. This was one of my favorite blue nail polishes that I’ve ever had. But it was pretty old and is super goopy now, so it needs to go. I will definitely be purchasing another one soon! I wear it all year round and always get compliments. Many blue nail polishes can stain your nails, but I’ve never had that problem with this one.

Finally, the last and most random empty that I have to share with you is this Gem Extra Virgin Olive Oil. I’m not showing you this just because I feel like including some food items because this actually has a home in my bathroom closet. This is the cheapest olive oil I can find and is what I use to clean my makeup brushes. If you missed that full post, you can learn my best tricks here. I’ve already purchased another one so it’s ready to go next time my brushes are dirty.

That was quite a lot of empties! Thank you for sticking with it all the way to the end! Some of these products were my favorites and others I am so ready to finally be able to throw away. I hope you found this helpful. I always think the best reviews come after using an entire product and understanding how it works.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to leave them for me in the comments below. Have you tried any of these products? Let me know how they worked for you!

    1. Absolutely! I've changed my mind so many times on different products throughout the time I use it and by the time I reach the end, I finally have my mind made up.
