February Boxycharm Unboxing

At the beginning of all of my Boxycharm posts, it always turns into me talking about the shipping of my Boxycharm. Whether it be good or bad, that always seems to be the topic even if that isn’t my initial intention. But now it’s happened so much that I feel like I have to be consistent and let you know what happened like it’s some kind of ongoing story. Well, this month I’m happy to report that my Boxycharm showed up extremely early. The shipping email and tracking information was messed up since the label for the package was created, but it actually showed up earlier than I think it ever has before which is super nice since this month is shorter than all the rest. I’ll have plenty time to test out all the new products! But before we get into all that, let’s quickly discuss last month’s products.

~Dr. Brandt Pores No More Luminizer Primer~ This feels nothing at all like their original Pores No More primer, but it’s still nice. It does have a few specks of glitter in it, which I could do without. It does increase the wear time of my makeup, although I think the luminizing aspect of it enhances the pores rather than minimizing them.

~Pür Cosmetics Bronze & Brighten Cheek Palette~ I really don’t like this very much at all. I had to force myself to test it out just so I’d have something to say about it. The highlighter is gorgeous, but the bronzer and blush are much too shimmery for me to wear on my oily skin.

~It Cosmetics Universal Brow Pencil~ I already knew that this is one of my favorite eyebrow pencils ever. I’ve used it in previous years and even just received another one for Christmas. It’s definitely one of the best on the market. In case you missed it, you can read my full review here.

~Crown Brush Glam Metals Eyeshadow Palette~ This isn’t exactly a product that I would pick out for myself and I probably won’t be reaching for it very much in the future. The quality is okay on it, as I described in my full review, but it was the shade selection that I didn’t care for. I was able to put a look together in a recent tutorial featuring this palette and I liked the way it came out, it’s just definitely a big step away from my favorite neutrals.

~Girlactik Matte Lip Paint (Posh)~ For being another matte liquid lipstick, I was actually really impressed with this one. The formula was very comfortable and felt super lightweight on the lips. I thought the color was going to be difficult for me to wear, so I was surprised with how flattering this looked. Definitely one of the better matte liquid lipsticks I’ve ever tried!

Last month’s box had a lot of hits and misses, but that’s okay because I really love that eyebrow pencil and I enjoyed the challenge of trying so many products that put me out of my comfort zone. This month, the theme of the box is Galaxy Glow. I’ll be honest, I’m kinda surprised they didn’t do something more Valentine’s Day related. Regardless, I’m really, really, really excited about this month’s new goodies!!
Crown Brush is quickly becoming one of the most common brands to receive in Boxycharms recently. This is the third month in a row that one of their products is included in the box. This time they included a three piece brush set, which retails for $30. That doesn’t seem like a bad price considering you get three brushes. What’s interesting to me is that they look (and feel) identical to the Wet n Wild brushes. I’m not sure what that’s all about, especially because these seem to be of lesser quality than their other brushes with the black handles.

The handles on these are plastic and a little rough, although the bristles are still soft. The three brushes included don’t have any names or numbers on them, and the reference card just suggests a use for them. They’re still cute and I’ll definitely get use out of them, but I’d much rather see the previous, better quality brushes instead.
The next product in the box is a Smokey Eye Pencil from Vintage Cosmetics. I believe this is a full size product, which retails for $21 (whattt?), but it seems a little smaller than some of the other full size pencils in my collection. This is another brand we’ve received in our Boxycharms before, but unfortunately I’ve never liked any of the products because they were all highlighters. This pencil at least seems to be very creamy and smooth, which it should be considering that price! It claims to have richly pigmented, saturated, jet-black color with a creamy-soft formula that won’t pull or tug at the eyes. Sounds pretty promising!
The third item in the box is the Cover FX Shimmer Veil in the shade Amethyst ($28). This is a full size product with .14 fl oz. It looks like a lip gloss and has very nice packaging, but it is actually a shimmer cream color for the eyes. It says it is a multi-use product that is crease-proof and formulated with a lightweight finish. The color is absolutely gorgeous! I’m really excited to play around with this one. I’ve only tried a few Cover FX products in the past and I’m interested in seeing exactly how this performs. They also included a coupon in the box, you can use the code FXCHARM (valid until March 15th) to receive 20% off your next purchase on the Cover FX website.
Along with Crown Brush, Pür Cosmetics is making yet another appearance in this month’s box. This is their X-Faux Lips Plumping Lip Exfoliator, which comes with .1 oz of product and retails for $17. First of all, I love the name! Second, I’m super excited about this because I really do like a lot of Pür Cosmetics products and have been wanting to try the Elf Lip Exfoliator that is the same concept as this.

It’s shaped like a lip crayon and you’re supposed to scrub it across your lips for a quick exfoliation. I really love my DIY lip scrub that I use weekly, but I think I’m also going to enjoy the convenience of this. It says it is made with shea butter, raw sugar, and exfoliating beads that are suspended in the formula to exfoliate, plump, hydrate, and soothe.
The next product that was included in the box is an blush pan ($12) from Ofra. They don’t include the shade name on the back of the refill pans and it’s not listed on the reference card, so unfortunately I have zero idea of what shade this may be. Either way, though, I’m super happy about it because I love the shade. There are a few specks of glitter in it, but it doesn’t look like anything that would be too terrible.
And what better to put that blush pan in than an Ofra magnetic palette?! I’m so excited about this!! They included an Ofra Pro magnetic palette in another box a long time ago. I have that one filled with all my favorite Makeup Geek pans and I use it almost every time I do my makeup. I had been trying to find another one, knowing I needed a new magnetic palette for some pan products that I had sitting around. I haven’t been able to find the previous one on the Ofra website, so this couldn’t have come at a better time. The opening of it is a little interesting, though. I’ll definitely be paying attention to whether this design is better or if it gets in the way. Obviously this is another full size product (making that six for this box) and it retails for only $19!
The total value of this month’s box is $127! That’s $106 more than what you pay for the box! It’s unbelievable how Boxycharm does what they do. Thankfully, I’m really excited about every single product I got this time. I’m mostly excited about the palette because I needed another one so badly, but I’m also really interested in trying out all of the other products too. If you’re not signed up for Boxycharm yet, you need to be! They’re the best beauty subscription box out there...clearly!

If you have any other questions, please feel free to leave them for me in the comments section below. Did you receive this month’s Boxycharm? What products are you most excited about?
