February Boxycharm Unboxing
It used to be a thing for me to constantly complain about Boxycharm’s shipping. Thankfully, it hasn’t shown up late in a very long time. I’m getting my boxes closer to the beginning side of the month, although I do still usually receive my tracking email the day it’s finally out for delivery. That’s kinda fun, though, because it makes it even more of a surprise since I really have no idea when it’s coming until it’s almost to my house. Surprises on top of surprises! As usual, we’ll quickly review last month’s products before jumping into all the new goodies.
~Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mask~ I’m not a big fan of sheet masks as it is, so I wasn’t expecting to completely love this mask. I pretty much just wanted to try it because it’s from Tatcha and they’re known for being super fancy. My instincts were right, it wasn’t anything special. It really just felt like any other face mask I’ve tried before.
~Briogeo Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-in Conditioning Spray~ For not really liking any Briogeo products in the past, this spray was really nice. It smelled pretty good and I did notice it making my hair soft and easy to comb through. Although I didn’t notice it add any shine, which is really what I’m looking for, so I don’t know that I’d repurchase it.
~Billion Dollar Brows Universal Brow Pencil~ They really need to rethink their name. This was anything but billion dollar brows worthy. Although the color was nice and the formula was smooth, it was not at all self-sharpening like they claimed and the packaging was extremely cheap feeling. The pencil kept falling back into the packaging pretty frequently during application.
~Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Volume I Eyeshadow Palette~ This, unfortunately, was not as good as I was expecting. I remembered being impressed by the unique texture of the Tarte eyeshadow formula but, as you might have seen in my full review, I wasn’t as big of a fan of the color selection in this palette and I found the shadow consistency difficult to work with.
~Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick (Miami Fever)~ I was never a fan of the Ofra liquid lipsticks and I don’t know that this color was super flattering on me. While it didn’t surprise me that this is yet a completely different packaging than all my other Ofra lippies, I do think they’ve done something to the formula. As I mentioned in my recent tutorial, this was much more comfortable on the lips than what I’ve used from them previously and I’m really happy about it.
Last month was kind of a dud for me. I was really excited about the majority of the products in the beginning, but I was so disappointed after trying the brow pencil and eyeshadow palette. However, I am really happy with the new Ofra formula and that I was finally impressed by a Briogeo product. I’ve wanted to like those two for such a long time! The theme for the February box is After Glow. It looks very simple, yet very glam. So me!!

The first product in this month’s box is the Sol de Janeiro Coco Cabana Cream. This 2.5 fl oz travel size retails for $20. They’re calling this a moisture magnet oil-in-water body cream that will instantly transform dry, dehydrated, irritated skin with its fermented sugar and coconut oil blend.
I did like their Brazilian Bum Bum Cream that was included in a previous box, but the gel-like consistency of this looks so interesting and I definitely think I like this scent much better. It has a fragrance described as coconut, toasted praline, and warm vanilla latte. It reminds me of a coconut macaroon, I just want to eat it!!
Based on the brand name of this next product, I feel like they’re trying to go with a theme here. This is the Touch in Sol No Poreblem Primer, which retails at $18 for 1 fl oz. First of all, I love the name. It literally made me LOL. I also love the packaging, I think the frosted glass makes it look so fancy.
As with most primers, this one claims to create a seamless canvas for foundation by making the skin feel velvety soft with its light, silky texture, as well as blurring pores and wrinkles. Its green tea and collagen ingredients will also work to extend the wear time of the makeup, keeping it in place all day.
Based on previous experiences with Pretty Vulgar’s face products, I was very excited to see their Bronzed B bronzer included in this month’s box. This bronzer retails at $32 and the shade I have in Bronze Mannikin. It’s a medium matte bronzer and just as with the blush that I’ve tried from their line, the formula is incredibly smooth and pigmented. It definitely looks like it will be a good shade match for me. I can’t wait!
I’ve heard of the Nudestix brand before, but I’ve yet to try any of their products. Thankfully, Boxycharm presents that opportunity for a lot of brands. That’s one of my favorite things about subscription boxes. This is the Nudestix Magnetic Luminous Eye Color ($24) and the shade I have is Copper Foil.
They’re describing this as a super long-wearing eyeshadow pencil that glides softly and blends easily. It is supposed to help you achieve intense color, precise lining, and prime the eyelids for all-day waterproof wear. Although I don’t understand the “magnetic” part of this product name, I think the shade name describes the color perfectly. I love that they recommend using this as a primer because that’s exactly what I was planning for. My oily eyes are going to be the perfect test for this pencil!
Finally! Y’all, I finally get to try the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara ($24). I have to be the last person ever to get my hands on this. After trying (and loving) the supposed dupe for this mascara, I never saw the need to go buy the high-end version. Now, I can finally compare them for myself without having to buy this product separately.
If you haven’t heard about this mascara, it’s supposed to be absolutely amazing. It completely took over the beauty community and everyone was obsessed with it for the longest time. It claims to separate, coat, and curl each individual lash for voluptuous perfection. Its acacia senegal tree extract will set the volume while its film-forming polymers lock in the curl. Eeek!
I don’t think I can even begin to explain how excited I am for this month’s box! The total value of all five products is $118, which is basically $100 more than what you pay! I’m also kinda glad they didn’t include an eyeshadow palette in the box because they did such a good job with all the other products. I also just recently remembered back when they used to include nail polish in the box sometimes, I wish they would bring that back!
If you haven’t signed up for Boxycharm yet, I highly recommend it. Definitely the best value for a subscription box out of all the ones on the market.
Did you get this month’s box? What products are you most excited about?
