Empties ~ February 2019

It’s been way too long since I’ve gone through my empties bin. Either that or I’ve really loved a few products I’m going to mention because there are a few duplicates! It’s such a good feeling when I go through a product and put it in the empties bin because I feel like I go through products super slow. So when I see as many empties as I have right now, it makes me feel like I’m actually making some progress!

Starting with skincare, I’ve gone through two tubs of my favorite Aztec Secret Indian Healing clay. This is my favorite mask in the entire world and I will always repurchase! I use this twice a week with apple cider vinegar for 20 minutes. This one product keeps my skin more clean and healthy than anything else in my routine. It’s seriously magic!
The two face moisturizers that I used up are the Callyssee Whipped Moisturizing Cream and my favorite Clinique Acne Solutions All Over Clearing Treatment. The Callyssee cream was nice, but if you read my full review of this brand then you’d know it’s not one I was interested in repurchasing.

The Clinique lotion, on the other hand, is my favorite moisturizer ever and I can’t find it anywhere! I checked everywhere I could online, I asked someone at Ulta, I even contacted someone on Clinique’s website and there’s no information of when this is expected to be back in stock. I need it!!
These next two aren’t necessarily empties because I used them up, they’re just products were that horrible and found their way to the trash pile. I even included both of these in a recent fails post. The Callyssee Foaming Skin Milk felt disgusting on the face and left the nastiest residue on the skin. The Yeouth Retinol serum felt like any other standard serum, but it broke me out like no other. Based on these two products, I think there’s a reason neither of these brands are very well-known.
One product I can always depend on is the Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads. I finished two of these and am currently almost done with another. I kinda took a break from them while I tested other products, but after a while my skin wasn’t looking as good so I repurchased them immediately. Although they don’t really do much for breakouts, they’re a lifesaver for texture!
The Mario Badescu Drying Lotion has a cult following for a reason! I still can’t believe how long it took me to finally try this product. I apply it at night as soon as I see a breakout starting to happen and in most cases, it clears it up by morning. I repurchase this every time I run out because I see it as one of those emergency products you should always have on hand.
The only haircare empty that I have is the Aussie Moist shampoo. I took a break from my beloved Pantene to try out this shampoo again. I used it a long time ago and remember liking it. Their Moist deep conditioner is my absolute favorite! While this shampoo was nice, it didn’t have the same deliciously strong coconut scent as the conditioner. It did leave my hair super soft, it just wasn’t as impressive enough for me to repurchase it over my Pantene Curl Perfection.

My sister got me these bubble baths from Bath & Body Works awhile ago. I wasn’t too impressed with them at first, but after discovering the best bubble bath hack ever I was able to get so many more bubbles out of them. I’m undecided whether I would repurchase these just because I’m so in love with the Lush bubble bars, but they are pretty good. The sage and mint scent, and the bergamot and mandarin scent were both very enjoyable.
Judging by the next three empties, you’d think I have a different lotion for every part of the body. The Amlactin Daily Moisturizing body lotion is what I use on my thighs. I’ve talked about this a few times before. I’m about 95% sure that I have keratosis pilaris on my thighs and the lactic acid in this lotion has really helped clear up my skin.

I don’t even know how long this Olay Silky Berry lotion has been in my closet and I finally decided to use it up. The scent was a little dated, in my opinion, and the consistency was a little thin for my preference. Although I won’t be repurchasing this one, it’s also not the worst lotion I’ve ever tried.

It took me a while to go through this tube of Seacret Mud Therapy Hand Cream and now I’m sad that it’s gone. I used it at night before bed and although I wished it had a scent, I did really enjoy how nourishing it was. If I can ever find it again, this is one I’d repurchase.
My two makeup empties are the Essence Make Me Brow eyebrow gel and my favorite Maybelline Fit Me concealer. The Fit Me concealer has been my favorite for years and I always keep multiples of it in different shades because it’s just the best.

The Essence brow gel wasn’t as impressive as I thought it would be. I got the shade Soft Browny Brows, which is the 2nd of the three shades they offer and it was way too light for me. Aside from the color, it also just didn’t do much for my brows either. I wasn’t a fan of the spoolie, it didn’t keep the brows in place very long at all, and it didn’t add any depth or volume to my brows like I was expecting.
Every now and then, a nail polish remover will make it into an empties. I always repurchase this Nourishing acetone at Walmart because it does the job just as good as any name brand. I’ve never had a reason to purchase anything else.

It’s really embarrassing how long I’ve had this Estée Lauder nail polish, so we’re just not even gonna go there. The point is, I’m finally throwing it away. There is a tiny bit left in the bottle, but it’s almost impossible to get out because of the shape and small length of the brush. I’m gonna be on the hunt for a dupe for this Le Smoking shade because it is one of my favorites!
I must really be into candles lately because I finished two of them. And they’re both from Target, what a surprise! The first is Roasted Chestnut from their Signature Soy collection. Sometimes the candles from this line can be hit or miss, but this one was definitely a hit. The scent was really strong when it was burning and it was perfect for Fall!

This White Pumpkin Latte is also a soy candle, but from a brand called Vineyard Hill. I did smell really good, it just wasn’t as strong as I was hoping (or expecting) it to be. I like the packaging, though, and that it could be used as a mason jar to store other things. That’s always a bonus!
The last product I have is an essential oil. I wasn’t really liking the blends I used to have and wanted to try an oil from the NOW brand. I found this orange scent at my local healthfood store and I love it. I’ve repurchased it once already and am almost out of that one too. This smelled exactly like peeling an orange, it was so refreshing! I’m really looking for a vanilla essential oil, but those are sometimes hard to find.
It feels just as good to dump out all of these empties as it does to put them in the bin. With the exception of those two fails products, I think the majority of these were pretty enjoyable. I love it when that happens!

If you have any questions about any of the products I mentioned, please feel free to leave them for me in the comments section below. Have you tried any of these products before? What are some of your recent empties?

This is one of those weeks where I wanted to match my nail polish to the weather. I don’t know what has been going on lately, but it has been so cloudy and the forecast doesn’t show it clearing up anytime soon. So much for the “Sunshine State!” The color I’m wearing on my nails this week is Boneyards by Cult. I got this in a Boxycharm a long time ago and although I do like the color, I don’t seem to ever wear it very frequently. Gray nails are something I just have to be in the mood for and this gloomy weather has me seeing nothing but gray right now!
What’s on your nails this week?
