September Favorites

October is just two days away and as sad as I am that Summer is coming to an end, I’m pretty excited to get into all things pumpkin and start bringing out my Fall decor! September was such a fun month and I found a ton of new beauty favorites that I can’t wait to share with you. Almost everything is from the drugstore and I also have an Amazon home find that is a total cozy Fall necessity!

After nine months of procrastination and a busy schedule, I finally went to get my hair cut a few weeks ago. I ended up getting two inches taken off and during my appointment, the stylist recommended that I try the As I Am Coconut Cowash. I had never used a cowash before and I was extremely skeptical about using one with my oily hair, but I decided to at least give it a chance.

It’s very easy to find at Target and Walmart, and was less than $10 for 16 oz! It seems to include healthy ingredients and has a pleasant scent. I do wash my hair every night before bed, but as I begin to work this into my routine I’ve only been using it every other day. So far, I’m really happy with it! Unfortunately the scent doesn’t linger after the hair has dried, but I’ve already noticed it leaving my hair softer and more shiny than before.

Although I love how that cowash leaves my hair feeling, it is a weird transition trying to scrub without any suds. I didn’t enjoy using my fingers like I normally do, so I ordered this scalp massager on Amazon. It came in a pack of two for around $8! It has soft silicone tips that aren’t too rough and it leaves my hair feeling just as clean as if I would’ve scrubbed with my fingers. And the fact that it helps prevent my nail polish from chipping is a huge bonus!

Trying to keep blush on my face has always been a struggle of mine and lately it’s been even worse. I’ve never liked cream blushes in the past, but they seem to be the only product that will stay in place right now. As I search to find colors and formulas that I like, one that I’ve been playing with the most is the Pixi x Dulce Sugar & Spice Lip Candy palette. I love how many shades there are to choose from and that the formula includes antioxidants and minerals so I don’t have to worry about breakouts.

The two shades I’ve been using the most are Pasion and Enamorada from the middle row. They’re insanely pigmented and blend out pretty easily on the cheeks. I do have to build up cream blushes more than powders to get the effect that I want, but it’s worth it when the color is still there at the end of the day.

After trying (and loving) two of the other shade options in these Elf Bite-Size eyeshadow quads, I couldn’t wait to add this Pumpkin Pie palette to the collection. As I shared in one of my most recent tutorials, these colors are absolutely perfect for Fall! The price is unbelievable (only $3) and the quality is amazing - just look at the pigment in those swatches!

I’ve also been looking through my collection and trying to use other eyeshadow palettes that I haven’t used in a while, just to mix things up a little bit. I forgot how great the quality was in this Violet Voss Essentials palette. The shades are insanely pigmented and the formula is super easy to blend. I’ve specifically been loving the combination of the shades Cream, Sand, Cinnamon, and Black - similar to the look I shared in my tutorial featuring this palette, but slightly more simple.

I’m beyond done with the whole matte lip trend, but I was recently looking for a lip stain type of product and ended up getting one of the Maybelline SuperStay Ink Crayon Lipsticks in the shade called Stay Exceptional. It does stay on the lips without transferring, although it’s not an actual stain like I was looking for. It does have a matte finish, but I make it more comfortable by using my lip balm hack. I’ve also been patting the product on rather than gliding it over the lips, which keeps it feeling more lightweight and wearable.

Plumping lip glosses are another product I’ve never been a fan of, but the formula of these Pixi LipLift Max glosses are so comfortable! The specific shade I’ve been loving is called Sweet Nectar. It’s a soft peach color that adds the most flattering shine to the lips. There is a slight tingle, but it’s not overpowering at all and the formula is very lightweight.

The only non-beauty favorite that I have to share this month is this electronic lighter that I got on Amazon. It was less than $15 and I absolutely love the gold color! I’m the biggest scaredy cat when it comes to fires and lighters, so this is the perfect option for me. There’s a switch at the bottom that shows a blue light when it’s turned on, then you push the slider up on the handle to expose the electrodes and create an electrical arc. It charges via USB and is so much easier to use than any other lighter I’ve tried before.

The past few months have been pretty boring for me when it comes to makeup and beauty, so I’m really excited to have rediscovered my love for that Violet Voss palette and that I finally gave cream blush another chance. I am in the process of switching over to using only sulfate free hair products and will be sharing my experience in the next month or two, so stay tuned for that!

I hope you enjoyed this post! If you have any questions, please feel free to leave them in the comments. Have you tried any of these products before? What are some of your recent favorites?
