March Boxycharm Unboxing

This post was supposed to go up on Wednesday, but apparently Boxycharm had some issues this month and didn’t ship boxes out when scheduled. That’s only happened a few times in the 3 ½ years that I’ve been a subscriber and it’s definitely disappointing having to wait so long. I’d be lying if I said there were times where I didn’t know if it was going to show up this month, if at all. Either way, it’s here now. Let’s quickly review last month’s products before getting into what was included in the March box.

~Sol de Janeiro Coco Cabana Cream~ When I first got this, I thought it smelled like a coconut macaroon. But during application, I thought it smelled like buttered popcorn with a hint of caramel. So strange! Aside from the scent, though, I only used it once because it made my skin hot. I applied it on one arm and one leg to compare it to my regular lotion and the side I applied this lotion to felt like my skin was going to start steaming. It was not very pleasant and made me not want to use it again. I reached out to the brand about it, but never got any response.

~Touch in Sol No Poreblem Primer~ This feels really nice on the skin, it has a good consistency, and I do think it does a decent job at filling in my pores. I have noticed that it works better if I rub it in rather than press it in. If I’m not careful in application or with the products I pair it with, it will emphasize texture on my forehead. While it’s not my favorite primer in the world, it’s definitely not the worst.

~Pretty Vulgar Bronzed B Bronzer (Bronze Mannikin)~ I loveee this bronzer! It does have talc in it, which I’m not very happy about. But the color and the formula are amazing. It’s incredibly easy to apply, it blends effortlessly, and the color gives such a natural glow to the skin. As you might have seen in my recent favorites, I’ve been pairing it with their Make Them Blush blush in the shade Hush Blush. Those two are the perfect combination!

~Nudestix Magnetic Luminous Eye Color (Copper Foil)~ The color isn’t necessarily my favorite because it’s a little too gold for what I typically like in an eye base. However, the formula is wonderful. It dries very quickly, so it’s only able to be blended on one eye at a time. And, like I mentioned in my latest tutorial, it holds onto eyeshadow for hours and really helps to intensify any color applied over top of it.

~Too Faced Better than Sex mascara~ I had a feeling I was going to love this mascara and I was absolutely right. This product definitely deserves all the hype that it gets. As I discussed in my full review, it’s given me an issue with clumping every now and then. But for the most part I can use this on its own without a primer and get a result I’m happy with. It provides the perfect amount of curl, volume, and length.

Although I didn’t care for the lotion as much as I thought I was going to, I was really happy with the majority of last month’s products. Especially the bronzer and mascara! The theme for this month is “la vie en rose” and it is totally Spring appropriate.
The first product in the March box is the Wander Beauty Lift Off mask. This retails at $34 and comes with 2.02 oz of product. This is a purifying and brightening peel off mask that is supposed to heal, purify, and replenish dull skin. Niacinamide reduces the appearance of wrinkles and hyperpigmentation, while kaolin clay works to absorb excess oil and visibly reduce pores. It’s infused with acai, goji berry, blueberry, lychee, mangosteen, and green tea leaf extract. After 15 minutes, the skin will be left smoother, clearer, and brighter.
Next is a set of Moda brushes. This is a Boxycharm exclusive set that has a retail value of $30. It includes a powder brush and a soft glow highlighting brush. The brushes have rose gold tapered handles and synthetic fiber bristles. I’ve had a lot of good luck with Moda brushes in the past, so I’m very hopeful with these. They feel pretty durable and they’re super soft.
The only time I ever really try any Cover FX products are when they’re included in my Boxycharms and this Perfector Face Palette has me very excited! This palette retails for $45 and includes a bronzer, a blush, a face powder, and 3 highlighters. The packaging feels extremely sturdy and I am very appreciative of the large mirror they included. My favorite thing about this palette is that these powders are all talc-free. I’ve been waiting years for companies to make more talc-free products and it’s finally happening!!
I’m also very happy to see that they kept the shimmer in the highlighters where it belongs and left the blush and bronzer matte. However, I’m not exactly sure what the difference is between a highlighter and a brightener, and I am seeing a few specks of glitter in the face powder which is very odd. All of these powders swatched very smooth and they all seem to be nicely pigmented. I can’t wait to start playing around with this palette. I think it has a lot of potential, even on the eyes.
Next is the Manna Kadar Bloom volumizing mascara ($29). I’ve only tried one other Manna Kadar product that I can remember and I really liked it. I love mascaras, but I’m actually a little worried about this one. The unique shape is interesting and I love the rose gold packaging. The wand, though, is super strange and the formula already seems very wet and clumpy just pulling it out of the tube. The outer packaging says “step 3” and I’m so curious to know what the previous two steps are since this is supposed to have a build in primer formula.
The last product in this month’s box is another Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick. At the rate they include these lippies, I’m sure we’ll own all the colors in this line before long. I’m beyond over the matte lip trend, but I did think their formula was more comfortable in this new packaging than previously. I love the color of this Monaco shade, I just wish it didn’t have such a metallic finish. That kinda ruins it for me...
The total value for all five of these products is $158! For the $21 you pay for the box, it is absolutely worth it. If you haven't signed up for Boxycharm yet, I definitely recommend it! This month I think I’m most excited about the mask and the Cover FX palette. I’d love to find a clay peel off mask that actually works and the face palette looks like it would be such a good multitasking product!
