Unexpected Makeup Finds #3

When I begin the testing phase of any beauty product, I’m always hoping it’s going to be amazing and work perfectly. It’s a great thing when that does happen, but it’s even better when you’re not expecting it. This whole series, Unexpected Makeup Finds, focuses on products just like that. These are things that caught me by surprise and are now some of my favorites.

Let’s first start with this Neutrogena Healthy Skin blush. I have had such a difficult time trying to find blush and other powder face products that don’t include talc. I knew Neutrogena was supposed to be a “healthier” brand, but I never really looked into what they offered. When I finally did try this blush, I wasn’t expecting it to be very pigmented. I don’t know what it was, I just wasn’t as excited as I should have been.

This blush impressed me from the second I opened it and swatched it on my hand. It was even more impressive applied on the cheeks. It has a smooth, incredibly pigmented formula that I can wear without having to worry about its ingredients breaking me out. I love this Vibrant shade and I definitely want to look into other colors.
If you read my original review of the Maybelline Color Tattoos three years ago, then you can probably imagine the concerns and reservations I had before trying their Color Tattoo Eye Chromes. Thankfully, I decided to give them a chance and I’m so glad I did because now I use them all the time. They’re one of the best primers I’ve ever tried.

They intensify eyeshadows like nothing I’ve ever seen before and they keep the color in place all day, even on my extremely oily eyelids. If you don’t have oily eyes, you could even get away with just using these as a one-step cream eyeshadow. My two favorite shades are Gilded Rose and Beige Luster.
Even though I’ve had a lot of positive experiences recently with Profusion Cosmetics products, I still get a little nervous trying something new from their brand because you never know what the quality is going to be like. This Siennas eyeshadow palette is some of their best work. There are a few formula inconsistencies, but the quality in the majority of this palette is really impressive and the price point couldn’t be any better.

The warm-toned color selection in this palette is super popular right now. While I do think there are a few shades that are too similar for one palette and I would’ve liked to see just a couple more deep options, I do still appreciate the variety of shadows included in this palette. In case you missed it, don’t forget to check out my tutorial and full review of this palette for more details.
I know this next one shouldn’t have really surprised me because Pixi is one of my favorite brands and it’s very rare that I’m ever disappointed in any of their products. I had just given up hope that I’d ever find a good lash primer. None of the ones I had ever used made enough of a difference to add another step into my routine.

This Black Lacquer Lash Primer really came to change my mind. Not only does it work extremely well as a primer, it also looks good enough to be used on its own. When I’m done applying this, it even looks better than some regular mascaras. This primer in addition to my favorite mascara gives me almost no reason to ever need falsies again.
Speaking of my favorite mascara, this Benefit Roller Lash mascara is it!! I know Benefit is a high-end brand and I should’ve had high expectations going into trying this mascara, but I had never had any luck with Benefit products before. I was not expecting to see all the length and volume that this mascara provides. And in only three coats! Check out my full review for proof. It never clumps on me, it never flakes off throughout the day, and it is the only mascara my husband has ever commented on. Do I need to say anymore??
Products like these might just be my favorite because it’s such an unexpected surprise. I never thought I’d find an eyelash primer that actually works, or that I’d find a mascara that I’d be willing to pay a high-end price for. This is why it’s so important to give every beauty product a chance, no matter what the initial thoughts may be.

I finally get to wear a white nail polish this week! I’ve been testing the new EMMA Beauty Las Vegas collection the past few weeks (review coming next week), so my attention has been on that for a while. White is one of my favorite colors to wear and I couldn’t wait to bring this back out for Spring. This is Snow Me White by Sinful Colors and it’s by far the best white polish I’ve ever tried! I’ve only finished and repurchased a few nail polishes in my life, and this is one of them.
What’s on your nails this week?
