April Favorites

April was such a crazy month! It was all over the place with things going on. And honestly, besides celebrating our puppy turning one I just want to forget all the rest. I am ready to move into a happier, more positive, stress-free May. Who knows what’s going to happen, but I’m determined to try my best. Based on all the craziness that has happened, it probably goes without saying that I only had enough time and patience for minimal makeup. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that I wasn’t able to discover a few new favorites!

Let’s start with the most random: buffalo sauce. I love chicken wings, but I’ve always eaten them with teriyaki sauce. I remember trying buffalo sauce many years ago and not liking it. I have no idea what’s gotten into me this month, but I took a bite of some buffalo wings my husband had earlier this month and it started a whole whirlwind obsession with buffalo sauce.

We’ve been making wings at home tossed in this Frank’s original sauce with some melted butter, I’ve been ordering buffalo sauce with my chicken tenders when we go out. I mean, the obsession with this is real right now!
A few years ago, I got these same sandals from Target in a rose gold color. I wore those things all the time; I still do any chance I get. I had my eye on this brown pair for a while and decided why not put it on my Christmas list. So I did, and my mom got them for me. It’s been too cold to wear them up until now and I’m finally getting the chance to start breaking them in. I’m so happy with them!
Here’s a little sneak peek of a blog post that’s coming a little later this week. I’ve been testing out a self-tanner from Norvell and one of the things that stood out to me the most is their mitt. It’s so plush and soft with an almost velvet-like feel. It made application incredibly easy and left me completely streak-free. Nothing even comes close to the comfort and ease of using this mitt.
Pixi skincare products, oh my gosh! I’ve gotten a lot of Pixi skincare products in the past, all of which I have been very much impressed with. But these are definitely my current top three. The Peel & Polish exfoliates the skin like nothing I’ve ever tried before. And it leaves my skin feeling soft for daysss!

The Rose Flash Balm is the most comfortable moisturizer I’ve ever put on my skin. It can be applied thick for lots of nourishment, or more sparingly just to make the skin happy. The DetoxifEYE Eye Patches are the literal definition of luxurious skincare. Not only are they made with cucumber, gold, hyaluronic acid, and caffeine they feel so good and depuffing around the eyes. Store them in the fridge and you will probably never be more refreshed.
Ever since discovering how useful my bunny ears headband is to my skincare and beauty routine, I’ve been on the lookout to find more. I saw Emily (emilynoel83 on Youtube) wearing this leopard print headband recently and I had to have one for myself! I know she loves The Vintage Cosmetics Company, so that’s where I checked first. I found this for $5 at Ulta and picked it up right away. It’s super soft and so cute!
I’ve been impressed with almost all the Moda brushes I’ve tried before, but I wasn’t exactly sure how I was going to incorporate these into my routine when I first got them in my March Boxycharm. After playing around with them, I’ve realized that the powder brush is just what I needed to blend out my blush. I typically pat on my blush with a more dense brush and then go back in with this one (with no product) to blend it all out.

Highlighter has never been a step in my makeup routine, but when I was testing this soft glow highlighting brush I realized it’s just what I didn’t know I was looking for. This does exactly what it says it’s going to do, provide a beautiful soft glow to the face. This blush completely eliminates any worry that I have about the highlight getting out of control.
This Cover FX Perfector Face palette is what I initially started testing that soft glow brush with. I loved the way it applied the pink highlight on top of the pink blush. But with more testing of the palette, I’ve really come to love all that it offers. It doesn’t include any talc, which is a total win for the health of my skin. And aside from the glitter in the face powder, it has everything I need to finish both my face and eye makeup -- as shown in my recent tutorial.
Another multipurpose face palette I’ve been reaching for a lot lately is The Needs from the Makeup Revolution x Emily Edit collab. This one does have talc, so I try not to use the face powders too many days in a row. What I’ve specifically been reaching for in this palette recently is the highlighter. It’s probably my favorite highlight I’ve ever tried. It’s not too intense, the color is perfect, and it looks so natural on the skin. Because it’s such a soft highlight, my favorite brush to apply it is the Luxie 512 Small Contouring brush.
If you’ve been on my blog at all before, these next two will probably come as no surprise. The Maybelline Color Tattoo Eye Chromes have been a favorite eye primer of mine for years. The shade Gilded Rose usually gets reached for more often, but lately I’ve been loving the bronze of this Beige Luster shade. It’s a little lighter when blended out on the eyes and adds just enough depth without looking too dramatic.
Benefit’s Roller Lash mascara has been my favorite ever since the first time my husband complimented my lashes (for the first time ever) when I was testing a travel size. I thought it looked good myself, but his confirmation sealed the deal. This is the only mascara I think is worth spending the high-end price for, and is one that I always feel confident wearing. If you’re a lash lover like me, you have to try this one!
My last favorite for this month is actually the most surprising, with the exception of the buffalo sauce. I’ve been complaining about liquid lipsticks ever since they first came out. I’ve just never been into it. Ofra never had a very comfortable formula, but I feel like they recently changed it up. Now it’s much more lightweight and wearable. Although I’m still not the biggest fan of the shimmer in this Monaco shade, it’s not as obnoxious as I originally thought it was going to be. Especially if you add a clear gloss on top, gorgeous!!
That was quite a lot of favorites considering the crazy month I had! I still can’t believe myself with this new buffalo sauce obsession, or at the fact that I’m actually enjoying wearing a liquid lipstick. May is already looking to be a busy month and we have a lot of fun things planned, so hopefully the sun stays shining and all of our days can be beautiful and bright.

This week I’m wearing another Sinful Colors nail polish in the shade Energetic Red. It has a good amount of orange undertones, which makes it a fun color for Spring and Summer. It is very opaque with a cream finish and could even be completed in one coat if you really needed it to.
What’s on your nails this week?
